Roon Support, or lack thereof
Roon appears to be seriously understaffed presently and to have poor QC with their releases.  Everyone is in this mess right now.  It’s just Roon won’t admit it and doesn’t apologize whilst still charging full price.    it’s a great product but a...
Which DACs are known to be sweet/rich/relaxed?
Buying some high end server to stream Roon over Ethernet is a huge waste. If your DAC has a streamer built in, that already solves any problems a server may create. I agree 100% that room treatments is your next step in trial and error. If you ha...
Can you hear the difference?
There is a LOAD of misinformation in this thread: An excellent recording of a CD ripped in WAV sounds better than when ripped in FLAC....  FLAC is much closer to lossless quality, but it is not totally lossless.  I'm used to convert Spotify mu...
Use or sell/replace Oppo UDP-203?
Oppo 203 and 205s do go for a fair amount.  But they're good Swiss army knives too.  They're Roon compatible which is the best way to combine streaming and a local ripped library.  So if you're starved for cash, move it, but it not, realize that ...
"World's Best Cables" vs Audioquest interconnects
Cables make a HUGE difference.  For a while when my amp was about 8 feet from my preamp, the sound with a 6 foot cable was nearly inaudible but with a 9 foot cable it was fantastic.
Amp Search and Upgrade
WAIT!  Ok maybe a bit dramatic.  But consider this:  the preamp section in your integrated is made to mate with the power section. The pre-outs are for convenience. Makers of integrated amps don't spend to make the preamp section mate with separa...

What does a subwoofer solve?
I've taken a somewhat unconventional approach to bass.  I have rebuilt Maggie 3.3s and they're actively bi-amped with a Marchand crossover and Krell on top and Classe on the bottom.  Then I have two REL Britannia subs running from the Classe.  Ju...
Anyone catch 7 Myths of Digital at AXPONA?
Yes their website is full of references to cancelled products. They make it sound like it's due to great demand, but not sure how that correlates.
Anyone catch 7 Myths of Digital at AXPONA?
I can't say I know.  This company is from ABQ New Mexico.  All the blogs on their website are by Mr. Das.
Anyone catch 7 Myths of Digital at AXPONA?
I'm sure those myths were designed to sell product.  I actually found it hard to be interested, not because of the content but because he basically stood and read this out loud: https://www.mojo-audio.com/blog/7-myths-of-digital-audio-dispelled...
Anyone catch 7 Myths of Digital at AXPONA?
True, plus the primary purpose to my understanding is for dealers to meet manufacturers and there would be no point in that given Tekton only sells direct.  But if their speakers are as great as some people say, why not take a burned-in pair and s...
Anyone catch 7 Myths of Digital at AXPONA?
Not knowingly anyway.  I'm not a regular of these shows and mostly I was interested in hearing the various listening rooms just so that I could get a sense of where my own system is in the pecking order.  We didn't go to the upper floors and I don...
Audiophiles on Audiogon.
I firmly believe in balanced connections and balanced opinions.   Tweakers need to expect to be scientifically challenged, and ASR followers need to be open enough to discoveries for which the science may not be immediately evident. Obviously, ul...
Anyone catch 7 Myths of Digital at AXPONA?
Well, there was some knowledge there but it was laden with BS, including that old trope about uncompressed wav sounding better than FLAC or ALAC.  I asked if that was true with Roon's architecture of decoding on one machine then streaming to anoth...
