Spendor S8e or Vandersteen 3A-Sig or ? Yes, it does make sense. As many have said, I recommend taking your time; try as many as you can in your room while keeping your current speakers and comparing them against the new ones. Many dealers will let you take home a pair over a weekend an...
Spendor S8e or Vandersteen 3A-Sig or ? I listened to the S8e's against the Harbeth SHL-5 at a dealer and found the Harbeth a much more enjoyable speaker, and with more bass. Electronics were Quad. In that setting I found the Spendor's boring compared to the Harbeth. After bringing home...
Piega P10s.....are they still contenders? What you are saying is what most of us feel often. ...You like the sound, but maybe something would look better, sound better, have better bass, etc., etc. The trick is to appreciate that, if a genie offered you 3 times what you could afford to pa...
Review: REL Acoustics Britannia B-1 Subwoofer Guy, sorry, just saw your post - no, I have not heard the JL subs. I'm sure they would be great also from what I have read anyway. Some have said for pipe organ music tube/cylinder subs (like the older Hsu's and SVS) are great. But I have not hear...
"D" amps, general discussion who's 1 and why? With all the mention of the Rowland products I'll chime in here with my experience. I use the CONCERTO integrated with outboard PC-1. Amps before this include the McIntosh MA-6900, Cary Cinema 5 (excellent by the way), Rowland Concentra, and McInt...
Integrated Amplifier balanced Audiophile_new,Your most recent post is not ignorant or annoying, but very accurate. Often times things don't change that much (and BTW your comparison of Camry's I agree totally with Accords). Some manufacturers do change technology however. Eith...
proac sound vs coincident sound I've had the Proac D25 (similar to the 28, same drivers) with high quality SS amplification (Rowland concerto with PC-1) and the sound was definitely tilted up at the high end. I have had Harbeth here, and at least these D25's are NOT the 'english...
"British sound", Daedalus, Tyler I have a post somewhere here about "Tyler vs. Harbeth." I auditioned both side by side for quite a while. I loved the Harbeths (SHL-5) vs Tyler Linbrook monitors. The Linbrooks had almost as 'magical' mids but overall could handle heavy music very...
Best Multi-channel Amp for Tyler Acoustics Speaker I owned a Cary Cinema 5 with 5 Tyler Linbrook speakers and found it excellent. Finesse, delicacy, and power/dynamics all fantanstic. It compared very favorably with the same speakers to 2 channel amps from McIntosh and others.
"Best" of the "Universal" players ???. The Bel Canto PL-1 or 1A is very nice.
Is There Greener Grass For Me? 4yanx, I am not sure what your current receiver has in terms of power, but I found (a once owner of the gold-i's) that they needed a lot of power. Also, I found that even once I gave them a lot of power, they still sounded a bit thin in the mid-ba...
What did you replace your Aerial 10T's with? It seems to me from your description you are looking for more 'mid-bloom' (but with accuracy and warmer attributes) in your sound, but without losing any of the excellent bass and precision of the 10Ts. I would highly recommend the Tyler Linbrook ...
Speakers to stands coupling A related but not direct answer - I find that much depends on what speakers you have, and what they are made of, and how heavy they are to begin with. For 'light' speakers, like Harbeth (comparatively), people use bluetack - which by the way can s...
Do you pull A/C plugs during thunder storms? Curious - those of you who lost equipment, how successful were you (if attempted) at getting them replaced by insurance? Is that covered usually?
Best multichannel amp for music? For your price (used), don't forget the Cary Cinema 5. It's a great amp, I lived with it for quite a while, moving from McIntosh solid state. It has a good combination of what you are looking for. |
