Need advice for B&W 804 diamond amplification B&W - it's ALWAYS Rotel, McIntosh, and Classe. Why is that. Hmmmm...every dealer I've ever been to that sells B&W sells either Rotel and McIntosh or Rotel and Classe. Has anyone ever tried with another amp?

Diversity of opinion over what I think people have preconceived ideas about products based on other non-truth (other than aural) sensory cues, such as visual, or third party affirmations (reviews). To illustrate my point, these example would possibly spark the ire of those affe...
You know you're an audiophile if-- You find yourself in a plaza that has a Best Buy or some other 'Stereo in a Box' store and you either:a) are tempted go in;b) scoff and smile while driving away but wish you had went in;orc) actually go in to see if they finally got something that...
Used amplifier/preamp combo for $2,000-$3,000 Excellent combo of the bel canto pre2 with the ARC 100.2 or for a little more money the Cary CAD 200 (though aside from the extra power not sure it's better). Great synergy. 7-10 yrs ago you'd have to shell out 7k for the BC/ARC combo, now about 2...
Velodyne FSX12 I had an FSR12. They were great subs, and still are if they work. Unfortunately from what I have seen the electronics don't seem to have longevity. If yours works, I would be concerned that it wouldn't work much longer.
Best CD Player HDCD under $1000US The Denon Universal players (like the 2900, 3900, etc) are pretty good, although purchased new only the 2900 is under $1000. But used, they are pretty cheap (especially since each has had many iterations). I have had the 2930, and a Marantz SA8260...
Experienced audiophiles best speaker It seems to me the OP was looking for people to compare loudspeakers they have heard. Or at a minimum, the OP asked for people to list the speakers that "did not take the gold." Perhaps that's a question that yields a less than interesting outcome...
Looking for an SS Integrated for Totem Mani-2's Don't be afraid of 'class D' - and based on your parameters it sounds like a good integrated from Bel Canto or Rowland like the Concerto or Continuum 250 would be a good combination, and of course there are others out there like NuForce, Cary, etc...
2k$ speakers that meet my criteria? Well, I thought I listed my post subject as the Tyler Linbrook monitors, but it does not show as far as I can tell at this point. Anyway, that's what I was talking about...
2k$ speakers that meet my criteria? Incredibly dynamic and easy to place. Awesome midrange, detailed but never fatiguing treble, and bass clean and articulate down to 35 Hz. And because they are easy to place, you can play with them close to a wall and get better bass response witho...
Tyler Decade D2s: review It's a been about a year for me now having the D2's. Samzx12 said: "I find the new line is quicker, punchier, and a tad more detailed while retaining smoothness." I think that sums it up completely when comparing it to the older models. The D2s ar...
Are Meridian Pre-Amps Awful or Something? It's a good question. You have two kinds of Meridian customers - those that buy the CD/DVD players based on Meridian's reputation, and those that buy their active speakers and along with them some electronics, like the G-91 or other player with a ...
Tyler Acoustics Decade D3M review Interesting, the last two posts. I had the Linbrook monitors for some time, as well as the Harbeth SHL5's, both at the same time in the same room, and now own the Decade D2's. The Harbeth's were better than the Tyler's for softer music, and the T...
B&W 802 Matrix Series 3 - For Rock I owned a pair in the late 90's and really enjoyed them. I second Fuqua's advice - they open up with - and need - a good amount of power. I had them in a large room paired with an McIntosh MC300 I had at the time. They did a good job playing music... |
