Advice on a nice integrated is needed
I've owned the JRDG Concentra(1), Concerto (which I still have), and in between the mac 6900 - I have not heard the 7000 or the Continuum 500. The Concentra is still one of my favorite all time amps, although I never was able to compare it directl...
B&W Matrix 802 S3 pairing with McIntosh amp
I owned the M802's with the Mac MC300 years ago - of 4 other amps I had had up to the point it was the best. The B&W's like power, not sure what the 7200 is rated at. Mine only sounded great with the higher wattage (I owned 2 300 w/ch amps wit...
Tyler U7?
I believe the model is 7U - not that it matters. But look at what is available in the threads here on the Linbrook Monitor, which is the same thing, except the 7U extends the cabinet to the floor. Perhaps more bass with the 7U with the greater cab...
Tyler Decade D2s: review
If Tyler has a 'house sound', I wonder if the Decade series will fit into that house sound or move into a new area. As a long time LSS owner, I can't help but wonder if any compromises have been made in the new line. The two things I would want to...
Bookshelves
It seems like you are asking for a neutral speaker more than anything else, with perhaps more emphasis on detail than bass or midrange warmth, and not being annoying in the treble? I'd look at the Polk monitor 40's, which are very dry but enjoyabl...
Researching the CD/HDCD Players from China
The issue, as some have pointed out, is how well can you expect to get good service if something bad happens. Not sure. However, I know what you are saying - I have seen many ads and reviews apologizing for the product having been made in China. O...
Amps-Cables for Focal 1007 BE
I've heard people say that they had trouble 'taming' the highs in the various Be series, and surprisingly found good results in treating their digital source with something like Shunyata products. Only 2nd hand word though...
Daedalus
Thanks Jax and Dodge, appreciate the info! It seems tough to find anyone who owns or has heard the DA-RMa itself - I'm assuming it's similar overall in sound; I'll continue to research. I did contact Lou, he has been very helpful.
Are Harbeth S HL5's As Good As Reviewers Claim?
I have said in previous posts on this website that if I only listened to vocals, jazz, chamber music, and other lighter music this would be my speaker. They DO have good bass (note some said they can be 'boomy' while others said 'bass shy'). As al...
Spendor S8e or Vandersteen 3A-Sig or ?
Yes, it does make sense. As many have said, I recommend taking your time; try as many as you can in your room while keeping your current speakers and comparing them against the new ones. Many dealers will let you take home a pair over a weekend an...
Spendor S8e or Vandersteen 3A-Sig or ?
I listened to the S8e's against the Harbeth SHL-5 at a dealer and found the Harbeth a much more enjoyable speaker, and with more bass. Electronics were Quad. In that setting I found the Spendor's boring compared to the Harbeth. After bringing home...
Piega P10s.....are they still contenders?
What you are saying is what most of us feel often. ...You like the sound, but maybe something would look better, sound better, have better bass, etc., etc. The trick is to appreciate that, if a genie offered you 3 times what you could afford to pa...
Review: REL Acoustics Britannia B-1 Subwoofer
Guy, sorry, just saw your post - no, I have not heard the JL subs. I'm sure they would be great also from what I have read anyway. Some have said for pipe organ music tube/cylinder subs (like the older Hsu's and SVS) are great. But I have not hear...
"D" amps, general discussion who's 1 and why?
With all the mention of the Rowland products I'll chime in here with my experience. I use the CONCERTO integrated with outboard PC-1. Amps before this include the McIntosh MA-6900, Cary Cinema 5 (excellent by the way), Rowland Concentra, and McInt...
Integrated Amplifier balanced
Audiophile_new,Your most recent post is not ignorant or annoying, but very accurate. Often times things don't change that much (and BTW your comparison of Camry's I agree totally with Accords). Some manufacturers do change technology however. Eith...
