If cost was no factor, what system would you build as your main audio system?
Thanks all for all the great input on what would make a realistically great dream system.@tecknik There is a reason why megabuck systems have megabuck cabling.I understand your point, but, as I am a realist and (to a point) a purest, I would have ...
LOUNDSPEAKER FOR $10,000.00 PER PAIR
@fleschler I totally agree about room treatments. Also important is, even minor, adjustments to speaker placement....Jim
LOUNDSPEAKER FOR $10,000.00 PER PAIR
@fleschler $1.5 million Von Schweikert Ultra 11/VAC 450IQ/Kronos systemThe next time I have an extra $1.5 million and a concert sized hall to fill, I'll have to pick up one of those systems. For now, in my little 14'x26' music room, I'll stick wit...
LOUNDSPEAKER FOR $10,000.00 PER PAIR
kjl1065Sorry, not sure what the size of your listening room is (I don't think you mentioned) but when referring to my space I'm thinking of a medium sized room - mine is approx. 14'x26' with12' cathedral ceiling. In 45 years of audio, I've heard f...
LOUNDSPEAKER FOR $10,000.00 PER PAIR
For my space, either nicely refurbished Apogee Duetta Signatures or the Magnapan 3.7is - both are under 10K. I also would consider the Quad ESL-2912 or the Spatial Audio X2 Modular - both right at 10K....Jim

Thanks for all of the great ideas. It’s amazing how much good stuff, vintage and cutting edge modern, is out there and what a diversity we, as audiophiles, have in regards to the equipment that best satisfies our need for good music.I mentioned in...

Blocking the propaganda
I haven't subscribed to any audio magazine publications for a good number of years, but I do  believe that publications like Stereophile, Audio Review and others, helped gel my interest in audio - going back to the early 80s. Back then, aside from...
I've got the Summertime Blues. Power conditioner necessary?
The American standard ANSI tolerance of electrical supply is given at 120v +/- 5% @ 60Hz. That would be 114v - 126v. Most US power supply companies operate well within that range and 120v electrical devices, including audio components, are require...
I've got the Summertime Blues. Power conditioner necessary?
For several years I lived in an area that’s electric power was supplied with large diesel generators, bad wires and noisy transformers. Running my equipment through a APC power conditioner, on it’s own circuit, helped clean most of the noise and s...

@satbox Others have said the same, regarding the Hegel H360 with the A3s.Happy listening...Jim
Auditioned Magico A3 - VERY DARK...
I agree with Al, regarding using the 2 ohm tap on the VAC, when paired with the A3s. I have no doubt that the Magicos could sound very good when paired with the right equipment, as well as a lot of care given to set up and room treatment...Jim

@ebm It perplexes me why it should take a $25K amp, a $10K or $15K pre-amp and $10K worth of cables to make a $10K pr. of speakers sound impressive!?I’ve auditioned a VAC Phi 200, tubed amp, with several different speakers, including: Wilson Audio...
Connect a sub to stereo system
The first and biggest mistake made with subs, is asking/expecting them to do the work of your primary speakers in the area of mid base. Most good floor standing speakers, including your R28Fs are quite capable above 40hz - don't expect your subs t...
