If cost was no factor, what system would you build as your main audio system?
Thanks for all of the great ideas. It’s amazing how much good stuff, vintage and cutting edge modern, is out there and what a diversity we, as audiophiles, have in regards to the equipment that best satisfies our need for good music.I mentioned in...

@robertplong Most specifically for home...Jim
Blocking the propaganda
I haven't subscribed to any audio magazine publications for a good number of years, but I do  believe that publications like Stereophile, Audio Review and others, helped gel my interest in audio - going back to the early 80s. Back then, aside from...
I've got the Summertime Blues. Power conditioner necessary?
The American standard ANSI tolerance of electrical supply is given at 120v +/- 5% @ 60Hz. That would be 114v - 126v. Most US power supply companies operate well within that range and 120v electrical devices, including audio components, are require...
I've got the Summertime Blues. Power conditioner necessary?
For several years I lived in an area that’s electric power was supplied with large diesel generators, bad wires and noisy transformers. Running my equipment through a APC power conditioner, on it’s own circuit, helped clean most of the noise and s...
Auditioned Magico A3 - VERY DARK...
@satbox Others have said the same, regarding the Hegel H360 with the A3s.Happy listening...Jim
Auditioned Magico A3 - VERY DARK...
I agree with Al, regarding using the 2 ohm tap on the VAC, when paired with the A3s. I have no doubt that the Magicos could sound very good when paired with the right equipment, as well as a lot of care given to set up and room treatment...Jim

@ebm It perplexes me why it should take a $25K amp, a $10K or $15K pre-amp and $10K worth of cables to make a $10K pr. of speakers sound impressive!?I’ve auditioned a VAC Phi 200, tubed amp, with several different speakers, including: Wilson Audio...
Connect a sub to stereo system
The first and biggest mistake made with subs, is asking/expecting them to do the work of your primary speakers in the area of mid base. Most good floor standing speakers, including your R28Fs are quite capable above 40hz - don't expect your subs t...
Integrated Amp to match with Magico A3
@eldonfung Well, still staying at the crossroad between H360 and PM10......After looking at the specs and reviews of the new PM10, I can see why it would be a real contender in your choice of amps. Judging from other reviews and recommendations of...
Integrated Amp to match with Magico A3
@jakebenton Glad to hear your new A3s came in and are working so well with the Hegel. With all of the good reports, recommendations and overall character and qualities of the Hegel H360, it seems that it would be a sound choice to pair with the A3...
Integrated Amp to match with Magico A3
@jakebenton  I think this is a hobby and I’ll never understand why people like you try to take the fun out of it for everyone else.Your whole response to sinewaveron was well put. You'll soon learn, there are a few on here who never miss an opportu...
New Adcom 👀585 SE. anybody heard this monster
@blueskiespbd Nothing at all against the Adcoms. I have a Adcom GFA - 5500, as my back up amp and it has served me very well and I’m always amazed at how well it sounds and performs, when compared to other much more expensive amps. I think you wou...
New Adcom 👀585 SE. anybody heard this monster
I agree with auxinput regarding the Bryston or Parasound monos. As stated - running brigged stereo is self defeating when driving low ohm speaker loads. I believe that either the Bryston, 7Bsst monos @ 600/900 W or the Parasound, JC1 monos @ 400/8...
