Solve this fun puzzle
Very interesting posts and well thought out. I've always believed in starting with the source first, get the source right and follow it down through the chain to the speakers. The old garbage-in/garbage out school of thought. Although I haven't he...
Build Your Own CD?
I sell both Burr Brown and Crystal, if anyone needs a free sample, get in touch...Jeff
How much do you listen?
12 hours of critical listening per week; with kids 7, 9, and 11 I'm busy much of the time. Jeff
Where to buy new rock LP s?
Eldon, mostly new stuff, since I have a fair bit of the older material. The new U2 album would be nice to own on vinyl, fer instance. As far as I know, much of the new music is still released on vinyl in Eastern Europe due to the slow adoption of ...
Where to buy new rock LP s?
Thanks, appreciate it! Ordered four titles from Music Direct, Elusive Disc unfortunately doesn't cater to rock enthusiasts. Again, thank you. Jeff
Oracle Delphi mkI tweaks
I lusted for a Delphi IV for many years before I took the plunge and I've loved every moment it's been in my system. I'm now using a Lehmann Black Cube phono stage with Synergistic Research AC Master Coupler power cord, and I like what it does in ...
question about BOSE reputation
Sugarbrie, careful, don't go listing yer gear, you'll git slammed! Laying out your HT set up is bound to draw criticism. We should all know by now we shouldn't be mentioning audio/video gear here, it brings out the worst in some of us. *g*
question about BOSE reputation
I agree with all of the above posts. I decided early on to keep seperate audio and home theatre systems. I really don't care much for television or movies, but my wife and kids do so I put together a decent system for them. Gallo Micro and MPS150 ...
Any comments on the YBA cd-1 blue laser
I have the CD Integre, and I love it. YBA makes some terrific stuff, for whatever reason not as popular with 'philes than some of the other stuff out there. Don't hesitate, buy the YBA! Jeff
Is the Live Music Reference Correct?
I have yet to find an experience that matches a live performance; caught Mark Knofler just last week and I'm still in awe. The reference for me? I wanna throw on "Love Over Gold" by Dire Straits, close my eyes, and feel like Mark's right there in ...
excessive hum-buzz in speakers
I had a similar problem, couldn't get the damned buzzing to stop. It was driving me crazy! I switched from a 25' run of single-ended interconnect (preamp to amp) to a 25' run of Goertz Micropurl copper balanced interconnect The buzzing went away! ...
Help w/ amp for ML Requests
I have Quest Z's and have tried several amps. The best, by far, was a BATVK500 with BATPAK, using Transparent bi-wire. You can pick up one of these used for around $2700, in fact, there was one listed today here on AudioGon. ATB, Jeff
My own audio store
*L* Will I ever be able to retire? With three kids (7, 9, and 11) and the threat of them actually attending a post-secondary insititution, it's unlikely. My guess is, in 7 years or so there's gonna be a whack of hardware for sale on AudioGon court...
It only took 25 years
Kelly, "Thick as a Brick" and "Graceland" are two of my favourite records, must have been tough parting with one, to acquire the other? I'm fortunate to have several copies of both, not audiophile grade stuff, but love'em all the same. Jeff
Isolation Tweak Confusion...
The large EAR feet worked nicely for me under my BATVK500 amp, $1.25 each from The Parts Connection (I used 6 of 'em). Worth mentioning my homemade amp stand; I used two pieces of 3/4" BC Fir plywood with a 1" thick rubber mat sandwiched inbetween...
