Who pays for busted stuff?
Sending the deck back isn't an option I want to pursue for a few reasons. The deck is in perfect condition, I had to pay $60 to Canadian customs when it got here, and it would cost me a fair bit to ship it back I took the deck apart, hoping to fin...
How much are you worth ?
If money in the bank includes 401k's and equity in your home, then my systems as a percentage of my net worth are negligible. Being a contrarian I stayed way from tech stocks last year (even though I work in the semiconductor business) but find th...
PC program for music cd indexing
Audiograbber, terrific program. You load your CD in you 'puter, it goes off and grabs all the relevant info off their website. Highly recommended
Recievers versus separates
The Magnum Dynalab receiver (designed with Sim Audio) has received some glowing reviews, and at $2k list may be worth investigating? My concerns with all-in-one units is a lack of flexibility when it comes time to upgrade, and the power supplies a...
Priorities, who makes the rules anyway?
Cars vs. a serious rig. Well speaking for myself I went with building up some good sounding music systems first (I have also have a decent HT and still don't care for TV or movies, but that's my own quirk, wife and kids love it). I won't mention m...
Best professional TEST CD?
The Stereophile Test CD is very useful
best cd's to impress your friends with..

Which Headphone Amp for Sennheiser 600?
Grado RA-1 with my Senn 600's, sounds terrific. I like the performance, simplicity, appearence, and the fact it runs off 9V batteries, one less thing to plug in.
How does one get off the merry-go-round?
I kinda hit the wall with respect to gear upgrades, but am I ever having fun tweaking my systems! Tweaking is cheap, fun, and appeals to us guys who just can't leave well enough alone
Don't try this at home hElP
If you want the sound to jump right out atcha, try using a thong on the connectors
You get what you pay for...
I had a similar experience with a Cambridge CDP, the entire display fell off the player and the door jammed. My dealer had it repaired for me, and I sold it. Many folks here on AudioGon swear by Cambridge, but to me they have severe quality contro...
Classe phono stage?
Eic, it really depends on the investment you've made (or plan to make) in a front end. Will your 'table/arm/pickup be a giant killer, or something musical yet modest? The phono stage in my Classe Model Thirty peamplifier is pretty good, very close...
What songs make you cry?
Country & Western, Opera, Rap, and Hip Hop. Makes me cry, my skin crawl, hair fall out, my ears and nose bleed, and I break out in a hideous rash
Best Phono Pre-amp..for the money?
I'm using a Grado pickup through a Black Cube, sounds real good to these ears. The cube is the size of a deck of cards, and you can fool around with PC's, it's detachable. Can't miss with a used Cube
Classe CP-35 pre and Classe in general
First off, if you like the sound, then go for it. Our collective opinions mean squat if your ears enjoy the sound. I own a Classe amp and preamp; I've owned Classe amps of various flavours for 20 years now. Classe products are terrific value, and ...
