Girl diagnoses & solves mechanical problem A hearty atta-girl! One of the cheapest tweaks I've found is tightening the screws in my speakers every few months. I was doing just that with a pair of B&W 303 and the tweeter fell out in my hand! I was tempted to take them back to my dealer ...
Does anyone answer e-mail? Hello? Welcome, I'm certain you'll find A'gon far more civilized than Ebay. I'm wondering, and please don't take offense...when you emailed the folks selling stuff here, was it to buy at the asking price or was it a low ball offer? Many will not respond ...
Any updates on firewire and SACD? Firewire is a universal interface, much like USB is. As a generic interface, it's up to the user to define what data flows through and whether the data is encrypted or not. So to answer your question, um, not sure what the question is to be honest...
New Classe CRCD All-In-One? Anyone heard it? I own two Linn Classik's; one in my bedroom with four B&W LM1's and the other in an office system with a pair of ProAc Tablette 2000's. I went from the NAD L-40 to the Linn (big step up)and not able to leave well enough alone wonder if the Cla...
Best budget floorstander match: HELP MEEEEE ..... A good sized room, with hardwood floors and lots of windows. I recommend you treat your room first before spending any coin on speakers. Not sure about what you can get away with (assuming WAF is an issue), if you'd like some suggestions leave ano...
New Classe CRCD All-In-One? Anyone heard it? Kelly, the Boulder and Rowland stuff just won't fit in the bedroom. What's a 'phile to do?
Bookshelf/Monitor suggestions. B&W LM1's mount on the wall and do a fine job for casual listening. A small sub would help them though. Totems are fine speakers, Model One or if you're on a budget Rokk's.
How do you determine how much to spend on speakers Garbage in, garbage out. You cannot fix poor signals downstream. As a rule of thumb, add up what you'd spend on a CD player, tuner, turntable, and tape deck. Whatever that amount is, should be about what you'd spend on the speakers. A balanced sys...
35 and 40 ft runs-Balanced will be expensive I have a 30' run of balanced cable between preamp and amp, similar set up to yours. I went to the Parts Connection (division of Sonic Frontiers) and bought some bulk Goertz Micropurl wire and some connectors. Took a few hours to put'em together. T...
best budget hi-fi speakers for my specific system A used pair of ProAc Tablettes would likely fit the bill. I used a pair of Totem Rokk with my AR set up, quite nice as well.
First upgrade from Linn Classik? I've thought about your post some and a few missing data points would make all the difference. What are the dimensions of your listening room? What is your primary musical preference (rock, jazz, folk...)? Do you listen to your music mostly at wha...
How many power conditioners do you own and use? Many audio designers I've spoken to DO NOT recommend power conditioners. Good power supplies inherent in quality gear and decent cords to filter out airborn nasties are more than sufficient. Save the money on power conditioners and spend it on mus...
Interconnects from CD Player to Tube Integrated Am Speaking as a fellow lefty, Maple Audio Ambiance. Best interconnect I've tried between my YBA CDP and BAT VK30 preamp. Reasonably priced, nice piece of wire
Amp quality / Slam Interesting thread..you seem to have decent gear and are into the hobby as much or more than most of us here. If I were in your shoes I'd sell the Sunfire and Marantz amps and buy either the Theta or YBA five channel amp. Plenty of ballsy power.
Best under- 500 audio stand? Atlantis Reference. Rock solid and real nice to look at too |
