Bluesound Node volume pot setting for an integrated amp
What ozzy said. Using the bluesound volume was a bit easier but the sound is better when bypassing the Node volume control.
Using battery power to go off the City's power grid
Obviously using for a small house needs a larger unit. This is what I have or maybe 1 gen newer. 4.5k.    Schneider Electric Conext XW PRO Inverter/Charger $4,397.00 Schneider Electric Conext XW Pro Inverter/Charger Schneider Electric Conext ...
Using battery power to go off the City's power grid
I have a off grid home so it uses a bank of batteries which then go thru a whole house sized large inverter (Schneider). The inverter is where one can get noise and I have not tested mine. With that said there is virtually no noise in the system b...
Top 10 vintage cassette decks
Just chiming in that the Nakamichi Dragon is pretty easily the top. I made   thousands of tapes back in the day and could never afford the dragon. So I would always just spent as much as I could on another Nak model. I owned about 5 Nak decks over...
WiFi streaming — streamer vs. through iPad
With a good wireless network really no need to hardwire to an extender. A mesh wifi network should be part of this. An extender just uses a existing wifi network and extends it so really not getting any better speeds than before. I use mesh networ...
Best streamer for a returning audio guy
“I see a lot of recommendations for the Node.  I used one for a while and agree it is a good streamer.  I don't like that you have to buy a DAC with it.  I recommend a stand alone DAC.  The DAC is a much more important component of your system tha...
Best streamer for a returning audio guy
Another vote for the newest Bluesound Node. Certainly there are higher end units but a great place to start. Just as important, if not more, is that the user interface and setup are very simple. I use an external DAC with mine but that is somethin...
Recommendations for Earplugs That Work – Protect But Allow Music In
There are many easily found on Amazon. I use the Etymotic ones but all change the music in pretty severe ways. Foam ones are the worst. I usually put them in loose and/or remove them for my favorite songs and just that makes a huge difference in e...
Streamer on Office WiFi?
The issue is you are trying to use corporate wifi for personal use. IT generally frowns on that since it could jeapardize IT security. Ask the IT folks and maybe they can be helpful but most will not just due to the risk on their end. Maybe stream...
How to keep albums playing at the same volume
As described above it is easy to do via JRiver software. Likely other ways and just look for volume normalization or similar.
Gapless
I have a ton of live music and when the renderer does not support gapless it really stinks as it inserts silence between every “track”. If one never listens to live recordings then it likely does not matter. Far from useless and critical for me at...
Gapless
Usually the renderer which is typically in the streamer. DLNA and upnp generally I can’t get gapless to ever work.
Streaming network issues - need a geek
Yep, those broadband speeds are way too slow for reliable 4k. Starlinks is fast enough but a 1 yr wait. But if that is your best path get on the list now. It is $110/month tho.
How to control volume for DAC with no volume control
FYI, I own a Node and the Denafrips Ares II. If you use coax or optical into the DAC you can use the volume control in the Node software. If you use USB (which is for sure a better connection between the Node and Denafrips, look this up) you'll ne...
Improving Comcast modem signal
Starlink is one of the solutions to address the current monopoly of ISPs. But the wait for gear and service is at least a year.
