Do you care about car audio? I've been into both home and car stereo for a very long time. I'm a bit surprised how many don't seem to care much about car stereo. Maybe that is because I do more long drives than your average Joe. I have probably listened to more music in my ca...
30 foot long Balanced Cables to Balanced/RCA Adapters into Amp's Stereo RCA inputs? For a run that long you'd really be well served to run it balanced. A regular XLR->RCA adapter at one end defeats this. So while not what you want to hear, if you really need to run that long you need electronics which accept balanced as well. ...
Ls50 wireless II vs separates with passive speakers I also own some of the LS50W (not the IIs). Super happy with them. They sounds excellent and have quite a bit more bass then the passive versions due to the design. Pretty flexible in placement given you can tailor the DSP settings in the app. You...
Speakers for Computer Not sure of budget here. If between $300-800 I would run the USB from the PC direct into some Vanatoo speakers. They have a few models and all are power, have an internal DAC, and DSP setting if needed. They sound excellent and are easy to use. Th...
Vanatoo speakers - should I get them for hifi sound? Chiming in again, besides owning audioengine and vanatoo zeros I also own some KEF LS50Ws. The KEFs are easily the best as they really are a pretty amazing speaker and flexible given these are active with DSP. They are too large for me to put on a...
Vanatoo speakers - should I get them for hifi sound? I own the Zeros and use them in my office. Quite happy with them and prefer them over similarly prices audioengines. Better fidelity for sure and a more powerful set of options such as the onboard DAC, subwoofer output etc.
Best stands so baby doesn't knock speaker over I've had many kids and many speakers. Only way is to ensure that kids can not get to the stands/speakers at all. We used folding gate like things which created a barrier around the speakers which yes are ugly. Out of reach is the only other viabl...
Anyone Recently Change to Class D power? I recently switched to a Wyred ST-500 MkII. Been using SS for eons and not sure I'll go back. Very happy with the voicing and I've heard it next to some PSVANE tube monoblocks and the Wyred was not nearly as different as I would have thought. I wa...
Subwoofer xover settings for KEF LS50W (orig model) Mapman, Yes this is exactly what I did :) Stereophile test CD (bass tones) and the "vintage" Radio Shack SPL meter. I start and make changes based on that and at the end dial in by ear. I'm sure the Metas are nice and someday I'll probably own a ...
Subwoofer xover settings for KEF LS50W (orig model) Thx, the highest setting on the sub REL B1 is 95 hz. Yes, you read that right. That is where I have it now so the LS50W DSP settings do not interfere and I don't have two notches in play. I was trying to stay away from that area to keep it simple ...
Subwoofer xover settings for KEF LS50W (orig model) I'm just using the software DSP settings for the LS50W and I think they are 12db slopes but honestly not sure. I started and 80hz but to get more consistent SPLs I ended up with what I did. KEF does advocate playing with both as I did. There is a ...
Subwoofer xover settings for KEF LS50W (orig model) Just a follow up. I set the high pass at 70hz and low pass at 60hz after much listening and measuring (test CD&SPL meter). The ls50w goes to lower frequencies than the passive ls50s. Confirmed with measurements. I had excess dB right around 60...
Need a power amp for a pair of ATC SCM 11's FWIW, I'm currently using the same Wyred ST 500MKII which I found used. Love it a as great all around amp, flexible and easy to transport. I also have the STP-SE so it prob helps that I've kept things in the family and can run fully differential. ...
Advice on desk speakers I own the LS50W (orig version) and some Vanatoo Transparent Zeros. The LS50W are a much better speaker but personally consider them too large and overkill for a desk. You may not. I use the Vanatoos on my desk and they work great for my needs. Ton...
TV and Blu-ray audio into my DAC Both units support the digital optical connection so I’d go that route. I believe an all USB connection can offer certain advantages but those are unlikely to be that relevant here. |
