Luminous Audio: Are They Still In Business?
It is a Holiday weekend so I would not fret. Also you can order direct from their website and I see the various options (XLR etc). I think on ebay you just send xtra funds for options and include in your note exactly what the options were you paid...
Subwoofer xover settings for KEF LS50W (orig model)
Thx guys, Do you run the LS50W full range or set the KEF high pass close to where the low pass is set?
DLNA audio quality test with 3 different media renderers same speakers
Thanks for that info. I have a modern LG TV elsewhere where I was gonna go this route and see what transpired. This result was really worrisome. It has to be the media rendering inside the TV and who would have thought it was coded so poorly as to...
Device that plays the USB you made for your car in your home
I have a few Sony Blueray players and they all have USB drives and support a wide variety of music files type. They also support 24 bit audio. I use the digital outputs into a DAC but sounds like you want to use the onboard DAC (RCA outputs) which...
Do different streamers really sound different when using an external DAC
I posted something on this recently. The exact streamer and exact media renderer should not sound very different at all. Yet it is about implementation and of course easy to mess up setting in the process. I find one path to be absolutely flawed. ...
DLNA audio quality test with 3 different media renderers same speakers
fuzztone,Yes I have triple confirmed the channels are being swapped with test tones. The other two devices have the channels correct. The lesson here is that a media renderer can be awful. There is no setting for the TV which is obviously manipula...
Pop/crackle in one speaker at only low frequencies in the tweeter
Just a follow up. When I removed the jumpers from the bi-wire terminals  I ran the woofers and tweets directly. No pop/.crackle at those specific low tone frequencies. I seem to only get it when running both drivers so suspect the resonance/vibrat...
Pop/crackle in one speaker at only low frequencies in the tweeter
Thanks, kindof what my worry was. I am guess the xover. I'm gonna try to high pass the monitors (from subwoofer line levels) for now and see if that solves the issue. It really only comes up in rare times with actual music but I want as close to p...
Differential Balanced Sound Quality
I'm just a newbie compared to most here if not all. I recently converted to what I believe are true AES48 supported pre-amp and amp (wyred4sound both units) and can say that the noise floor and transparency have never been greater in any system of...
Wadia Inuition (Class D amp) connect with subwoofer
I am not an expert. I think the issue you are concerned about is if your have a true differential (complementary) circuit. If so the negative speaker levels are not a true ground and can short your amp if touched together. Many balanced circuits a...
Good quality wireless, active speakers ??
This is in my wheelhouse. I have Sonos stuff which I am now selling for the same reason. Just not enough sound quality and so many more options now, but many are still cumbersome. The KEF LS50 (newest model if can afford) is a great pick. I just g...
Preamp for under $400 with tone/bass adjustment?
There are a bunch of "vintage" Adcom and NAD that when in good condition are solid and would work. Many have a phono stage if you need that. Just a couple quick ones on ebay. Here is an Adcom GTP-500https://www.ebay.com/itm/Adcom-GTP-500-Preamplif...
Any SS amp recs in the 1-2k price range?
Thx for all the recs. For now I am keeping my eyes open for a Wyred ST-500 mkII maybe. I did get a note back from Wyred on the differences between the integrated (STI 500 v2) and the separates path. It sounds like separates are a bit better for mo...
Any SS amp recs in the 1-2k price range?
jim,Thx, that is a great price.I just emailed them so I can better understand what the differences are between the STP-SE->ST-500 MKII vs the STI 500 v2 is. I don't really need an integrated but swapping gear is no big deal and I'm in that mode...
Any SS amp recs in the 1-2k price range?
Thanks for the recs so far. I am reading and learning. I've read lots here about some of the new class D to understand that I only know a bit of what is involved for good sound there. And a slew of brands I am unfamiliar with just cause I've been ...
