Recommended cork platter for my SL 1200 GR Technics TT
"Demonized Water"!  Makes me think of "The Omen"...  I bet you really use deionized water.

Have you tried the Milty Static Gun after play, before you remove the LP?  Seems like that's when it is needed most.
power cables' effect on power conditioner?
My experience is that the power cord to the conditioner has been my most important cord, bringing the greatest overall impact for my system's sound. This has been true with quite a variety of conditioners:  early Shunyata Hydra 8, Audience AR6, Au...
I want to digitally record my vinyl but I'm not sure how to approach it successfully.
Note:  the Ayre QB-9 that Steve references above is a DAC, and only converts a digital file to music.  The Ayre QA-9 is their ADC which can record your analog into digital.  Reportedly they are nice, but rarely come up used.
Audiophile class AB vs Hypex N-core class D technologies .
Micth2:  Yes, dry, over-damped bass is probably what I was reacting to, along with a touch of leanness in the upper bass, lower midrange area.  The music just didn't come to life in an engaging way for me.
Audiophile class AB vs Hypex N-core class D technologies .
I had a pair of Merrill Audio Veritas N-Core amps that I used for 3+ years as my "summer" amps, but I never quite liked them running my TAD CR-1's.  They just didn't draw me into the music emotionally, and the bass texture sounded problematic vers...
What's happened to the used high end market recently?? Sales are tough....:0(
Depends upon what you mean by "recently".  Seems like it has been a buyer's market for several years now, and perhaps worsening with time.  Has it gotten much worse particularly lately?
Do I need higher quality power cords?
Definitely see about getting "loaners" to try in your system (Cable Co. is a good place for this), as it is clear that different people with different gear find markedly different results.  My personal experience is that the power cord is the most...
Phono cable recommendations
I experienced a low level hum like you describe for many years, and through many different cable changes it persisted.  I tried all kinds of move to improve the situation, and all of my changes in associated gear and cable routing, grounding lifts...
Anyone bought direct from ps audio and returned it?
I'm pretty sure you can count on PS Audio to cheerfully refund your money, should you not cotton up to their gear.  I don't know for a fact, because I kept the amps and the pre rather than seek a return, but their whole enterprise ethos seems tota...
PS Audio Power Plants
I am very happy with the PS Audio P10 regenerator that I am using now.  It replaced an Elrod Diamond power cord feeding an HB Cable Designs Marble distribution unit that was my best sounding power feed to my system.  I changed because the cord/dis...
Old Gyrodec and some issues.. Analog Gurus Please chime in!!
I'm not necessarily advocating that you lay out big bucks for wire, but I must point out that roberjerman's blanket assertions that basically any wire will do because there are no sound quality improvements to be had is definitely "misinforming" a...
Isolation stands: snakeoil?
kavakat1It was several years ago now, and the firm was a random "capital asset disposition" firm in Silicon Valley, whose name I do not recall.  What I do recall was that I trolled Ebay for months in search of active vibration isolation tables, an...
Isolation stands: snakeoil?
Yes, they are expensive, but I cannot imagine a more dramatic proof of the influence that the surface your turntable sits upon has.  Eliminating vibration is a great thing, just so long as you do it evenly (i.e. don't let some specific frequency r...
Isolation stands: snakeoil?
Cool measurements!  I only reported the sound quality improvements with a Herzan under my turntable, but your measures imply the "why".
