Has anyone compared K150 tubes and the stock EL34s in Primaluna integrated/amplifiers? I'm going to try the following by next week: Pre-amp section: Swap out stock 12AU7s for new old stock Siftie 12AU7s Amp section: Swap out stock EL34s for reissue Mullard EL34s.I'll follow-up with thoughts asap.
Has anyone compared K150 tubes and the stock EL34s in Primaluna integrated/amplifiers? Jambalaya that's good to hear because I want to avoid losing the midrange sweetness too. I'm wondering if I combined the KT120 with Cifte 12AU7s what would happen to the midrange. Did you keep the stick 12AU7s when you replaced the EL34s?
Ahhhh...breaking in a cartridge. Thanks for the reminder stringreen!
Has anyone compared K150 tubes and the stock EL34s in Primaluna integrated/amplifiers? Curiosity is killing me! Kevin Deal at Upscale told me the EL34s have the best midrange, yet others seem to like the 150s over them.
Ahhhh...breaking in a cartridge. @tablejockey I agree wholeheartedly! I love your posts. Your positivism is just what is needed on the forums!I'd love to try an "exotic" cart next to this ART9. I scooped mine from LP gear for $900. This cart is a steal at the price. One thin...
When and how did you, if at all, realize vinyl is better? If you live in Chicagoland and want to bring your killer DAC over and A/B vinyl versus digital over some drinks, let me know! I'd enjoy it.
When and how did you, if at all, realize vinyl is better? I will also say that my patience and curiosity to continue to experiment with digital has waned. I have not tried many DACs. I stopped after trying a Creek Sequel and a NAD Master Series M51 DAC--Sterreophile Class A product. I'm open to the ide...
Out of these two cartridges which would you choose? If VTA is of concern you could get an adjuster ring from Origin Live for your arm. If your VTA is close to parallel you, arguably, won't be damaging your records. Maybe others could chime in on that issue. I would think the VTA would have to be...
When and how did you, if at all, realize vinyl is better? I suppose since I'm the OP that I should chime in. Vinyl did not always sound clearly better to me UNTIL I started moving up the chain with a better amp, pre-amp and cartridge. And, the number one thing that opened the door to vinyl crushing dig...
Out of these two cartridges which would you choose? I have both carts too. That is a hard choice indeed. I cannot sway you to one or the other.I would, however, say if listen to more acoustic music, folk, blues, and smaller jazz groups I'd go with the Dynavector 20XH. The Ortofon 2M Black is fanta...
New Technics SL 1200 GAE @audiofun , Yes, I do still here the same boogie and drive in manual setting with the torque down to about 1/4 or less of max.
Is the Audio Technica AT-ART 9 cartridge versus a Dynavector 20XH Thanks tablejockey! This only increases my curiosity!
New Technics SL 1200 GAE Thanks for following up. You make some fair and subjective viewpoints. I can see the issue with the design, but for me it is not one. I can't comment on what most audiophiles would do with the stock tonearm. I can say that giving the tonearm a r...
New Technics SL 1200 GAE @Chakster, Why is the ToneAudio review of the 1200 G useless?
New Technics SL 1200 GAE Lowering the torque has definitely opened things up a good bit. I highly recommend adjusting the torque to your ears/taste. I'm so glad I bought this table. |
