Move on from my Bryston BDA-1? Hello dsands!Been using Bryston BDA-1 with Bluesound kit since 2014. I think it is still a very capable DAC. Its USB input is somewhat limited, but with Bluesound kit that is a non-issue. I'm currently using mine in a second system with a Bluesoun...
Question about SACD and DSD There are multiple ways to skin the SACD/DSD cat.The option I use is to rip SACD to .dsf files using a compatible vintage Sony Blu-Ray player as my SACD network server. I use Sonore's ISO2DSD software to perform the ripping chore. Can check out ...
Thiel Owners @sdecker Thanks! Reason I asked is that Kef (like Thiel) bills the Uni-Q as a point source.
Thiel Owners So a question, where would Kef's Uni-Q concentric driver array fit into this mix?
Thiel Owners Just in case anyone is interested, Saturday Audio Exchange in Chicago is listing a pair of CS 7.2 in teak for $4499. They are also listing an MCS-1 for $899.
Would I benefit from a dedicated streamer? I'm currently running a Roon Nucleus directly into a Chord Qutest via Curious USB cable. I'm using an Sbooster Linear Power Supply with the Nucleus (fwiw purchased from Upscale Audio) and found that it made a big difference. Also currently cons...
Jaw Dropping Improvement? lg1 ... in my opinion with your system something on the order of the Chord Qutest would be most appropriate and a logical next step.FWIW I've had a Chord Qutest in my main rig since March of 2019 and absolutely love it, and had it fed by a Node 2i...
Jaw Dropping Improvement? lg1 ... just to give us some needed context, can you tell us about the rest of your system. With the right system something like the Chord Qutest can be an absolute game changer. But that being said, given the rest of your system, is a DAC the ...
Importance of Ripping CD to My Music Server I currently do much the same. Use dBpoweramp to rip CDs as uncompressed FLAC files and then transfer them to Melco N1A. Also use old Sony BluRay Player to rip SACD as dsf files, and then transfer them over as well.
Digital Front end for Dummies +1 for starting with Bluesound kit and then adding an external DAC.Agree with mahler123 that the best thing about Bluesound is the BluOS app. Only user interface out there better in my opinion is Roon, but that is a whole other expenditure. But sh...
Office streaming solution? Just an fyi that Bluesound kit does support input via Bluetooth, and Node 2i supports 2 way Bluetooth.
Office streaming solution? +1 for the Bluesound Node.Have had Bluesound kit as part of my desktop setup for a number of years. Originally paired with Audioengine A2 powered speakers. Now paired with KEF LSX active speakers. Use tape monitor switch to switch between PC and N...
Any way to listen to wav or high bit files with anything approaching audiophile sound? soulgoober, can you tell us anything about your current system and budget. The Bluesound piece in my opinion is very good entry level kit, very good value for the money, and comes with an excellent and easy to use operating system (i.e. your user...
Any way to listen to wav or high bit files with anything approaching audiophile sound? In my view, subscription streaming services such as Tidal or Qobuz that stream at CD or better resolution would be part of your solution set. Once subscribed, a PC, tablet or phone would provide access to a whole world of music, not everything, b...
Schiit/DSD Question A PCM only style of DAC such as a Schiit would be unable to play a DSD file. However, presently, the only way you would encounter a DSD file would be if you purchased DSD downloads or played rips of SACDs. |
