Need some help picking my first MC Cartridge
On the Ariston RD11S I have the Denon 103 on a Grace 707 arm. I have several 103's in reserve, including a rare gold-body 50 year commemorative version. Other Denon's I have are the 301 and the 304.  They are good sounding reliable mc cartridges.
Need some help picking my first MC Cartridge
Low output mc cartridges have always been preferred over high output types. Lower moving mass gives them superior transient and tracking response. I had the Sumiko Blue Point high output mc in use for a while but didn’t like it and went back to th...

The Hana SL is a very good recommendation at ~$750. It is low output with a superior Shibata stylus (important). It needs a gain of about 60db for best signal- to-noise performance. That gain can be had from an active stage or a transformer. Since...
Jitter Question on Dual Deck CDR
@gboren +1 Thank you for a such a cogent response! With today's proliferation of expensive CD transports and the claim that some sound "better" than others your answer should give makers of such claims to pause!
Integrated Question
The flattest bass response in a room is having the woofers placed at the boundaries of two surfaces, i.e. the walls and floor. Putting woofers away from surfaces yields the most uneven response. Roy Allison discovered this decades ago and used it ...

Looks like I am the only one here discussing room nodes for bass. Such ignorance! Sure, go buy another amp - add more watts! LOL! Go buy some wire for use as a tone control! LOL!
Integrated Question
Rooms have positive and negative nodes  where bass notes are increased or decreased in level. This is elementary acoustics! Your listening spot can be in one of those nodes. Use the Stereophile Test CD playing bass tones while you walk around the ...

Your listening spot may not be optimal either!
Integrated Question
Get the Stereophile Test CD and use the bass tones to evaluate the placement of the REL subs in your room. They may not be in an optimal position.
Integrated Question
"Just want to shore up the bass." - add another pair of REL subs.
Integrated Question
Many recordings are deficient in bass response. Don't be so hasty in blaming the Modwright amp for this! You can experiment with the bass roll off upper frequency on the REL subs.
They know we will pay anything they can think of
These products are targeted for the millionaire class. They don't necessarily sound any better or different than something at 1/10 or 1/100 the cost.

Jay’s Audio Lab bought and reviewed the $68K Gryphon two-chassis preamp.Using the industry standard of 1/5 the MSRP for cost to build that leaves a heck of a profit to be shared between manufacturer and dealer!
Question about suitable fuse metals
Put the fuses back! They have zero effect upon sound quality despite what the obsessed claim!
Question about suitable fuse metals
No risk except your DAC catching fire! Fuses are there to protect your components. Why would you do such a stupid thing bypassing fuses?
