New Power Cable on a 1990 Hafler DH120?
If you want to experiment buy an IEC outlet. Cut off most of the old power cord, leaving several inches. Strip the two conductor ends. Attach each copper conductor to a screw terminal on the back of the IEC outlet. Now you can use any power cord w...
New Power Cable on a 1990 Hafler DH120?
The sound of an electronic component starts with its power supply. NOT with the wire connecting it to the AC outlet. If you believe otherwise then I recommend joining the Flat Earth Society.
Class A or Class D solid-state amplifiers (modern designs)
Check out the new Topping PA5 Class D amp. $349! Clips at 110wpc@8ohms with 1% distortion. Uses advanced circuitry and has an input level control. Ranks just below the Benchmark AHB2 in SINAD at 1/10 the price!
Recommended integrated amplifier for upgrade
Here's the sleeper of the year: Topping PA5! $349 for a SOTA Class D integrated amp. It rates just below the Benchmark AHB2 for 1/10 the price! Why pay more?
Speaker Variety / Interim Recommendation
Ohm Walsh’s are worth checking out! I have an older pair of the Cylinders in my front room system. Amazing 3-D room-filling sound with seemingly unlimited headroom!
How to make small room sound bigger

Recommended Amp for Dynaudio Focus 340 on a mega budget but low volume levels
Get the new Topping PA5 amp ($349). It rates about as good as the Benchmark AHB2 amp (10X the price). Plenty of power - clips at 110wpc@8ohms (1% distortion).
Looking at Turntable: belt drive or direct drive?
Does the Rogue have a phono stage? If not, then a Schiit Mani will be a good choice ($130). Or for more money a Bellari.
Jays Transport Cable
No!
Are there speakers that disappear regardless of the recording?
It is all in the recording! They range from sublime to awful! For Classical check out the RCA Living Stereo releases, along with Mercury Living Presence!
Looking at Turntable: belt drive or direct drive?
Pioneer PLX1000 direct drive TT ($700) + Hana SL mc cartridge ($750). You can go lower on the cartridge: Hana EL ($500) or a Denon 103R ($350). Even lower would be a Grado or AudioTechnica mm cartridge.
Looking for Blues with High Fidelity
Any of the alblums made in the Sixties by John Mayall and the Bluesbreakers!
Paul Klipsch was right - What the world needs is a good 5 watt amplifier
@mofojo : It's all in the circuit design! The PA5 uses quite advanced design - making it rate right up there with the Benchmark AHB2 amp - at 10 times the price!
Paul Klipsch was right - What the world needs is a good 5 watt amplifier
Paul Klipsch made that remark decades back when he was using a Brook 2A3 PP tube amp. Certainly 5 watts is enough to get orchestral SPL peak levels from a pair of Klipschorns!

The Topping PA5 ($349) is more powerful than the Pass amp and has lower distortion. Why pay 10X the money for the Pass?
