Very new to high end audio - Recomendations The studio monitors are gears toward near field listening (as in sitting at a desk or mixing board) and are very flat tonally. Lots of people want more color (more bass, less highs etc) than flat studio sounds. Me I like a flat sound. Many (maybe ...
Very new to high end audio - Recomendations Active speaker are fine and you can run them as stated above. I can’t really recommend any as I have only used a few. Most people on here use passive speakers and separate power amps to tune the sound a bit more. Paradigm kefDynaudoATCfocal B&...
Different subwoofer settings for different albums? Nonsense….this only comes up if you want to hear the sub all the time. As in trying to add bass amplitude rather then extend the frequency. Once a sub is set flat with test tones it simply plays what is there and every album does tend to have diff...
Two amps, one preamp, one sub… If they are truly the same wattage they will not really need adjusted. The room greatly dictates the bass. I have a few amps and seem to always end up with the same sub settings.
Magico A1 vs KEF Reference 1 (META) vs KEF LS50 + KEF KC62 Did you get one sub? If so I would buy another sub before switching speakers.
Magico A1 vs KEF Reference 1 (META) vs KEF LS50 + KEF KC62 Good to hear. Subs for the win every time.
Any idea which headphones I’d like? Everything focal makes right now is pretty good. The Focal Elex on mass drop is only $600 and is every bit as good as the others. The Clear MG is pretty great at $1500. Don’t buy sennhieser HD800s, you will hate them…. Ear tweeters. I have had man...
I don't have sibilance problems, are my speakers dull? While I am no expert sibilant is the result of having a peak in the upper midrange (somewhere between 3.5-6kzh). Well designed speakers should not have sibilant issues no matter how revealing. The worst offenders I have come across are mid to low...
Wilson v Sonus Faber This is an old thread but interesting because I feel these two brands have change over the years. Wilson is getting softer in the highs and Sonus Faber is betting more neutral. Their sounds have drifted a bit toward each other to my ear.
B&W speakers sounding very harsh? 850ccAs a past owner of the 700 series the sibilants (s-sounds) are due to the midrange/crossover they use. There is a peak somewhere from 3-5k. I am sure the measurements show it. Not only is there a peak but it seems like cone break up as well. ...
Help with Shortlist of Speakers! (SF vs Devore vs Others?) While I like the new line of Sonus Faber the Olympica III is not a dark speaker, it is pretty neutral. It is a hair ripe at 100-200hz and a hint shelved down at 2k. I actually feel it is a little tipped up past 10k. Nice speaker. But you might not...
Speakers for 300B --- Klipsch Heresy 4 or other ideas??? Ozzy62,No worries and no klipsch hate from me. I follow the Klipsch threads and genuinely was interesting in buying the Cornwall. I decided to pass as I don’t think they fit well into my system (high powered McIntosh) and I did not like them well ...
Speakers for 300B --- Klipsch Heresy 4 or other ideas??? Ozzy62,Yes I have heard the whole line a few times. Both my local dealers carry most of the line. I did 3 demos with the Cornwall IV at two different dealers. One demo with the Forte IV (and one with the forte iii). Heard the current La Scala in ...
Speakers for 300B --- Klipsch Heresy 4 or other ideas??? I would listen to the klipsch first. I think they sound pretty bad personally. Lots of box noise, No bass, very colored. I use Klipsch RP8000F as rear speakers in my home theater and they are a much better speaker for $1000.
B&W speakers sounding very harsh? I got my model wrong in the post above. I had the 703s (not 702s) which is very similar to the current 702 from a driver layout perspective. |
