McIntosh MA252 owners, one SMALL problem
I cut a very very small piece of electrical tape and put it over the light on my MC462. Problem solved. You can’t see the tape from just a few feet away. Kind of forgot it was there.
Vivid Audio Speakers
The unnatural voices of the Kaya prof mentions above (I have never heard vivid) probably has a lot more to do with the low side firing woofers with a high crossover point combined with the subtle rise in frequency response starting at 2k, just a g...
Bass sensation like a loud car system in home?
Ok, silent bass. Checkout this video. https://youtu.be/PNjuDewrHoY
Bass sensation like a loud car system in home?
You really just need big subs.  The air volume of a car is very small and they use 12” subs or more so the ratio is crazy compared to a room. There are a number of mechanical bass shaper devices you hook up to an amp and you could bolt them to you...
Paper Cones in HiFi?
douglas_schroeder for the win lol
Rotel RA-1592 MK II or something else to deliver around 200W to B&W towers around $3000?
Well I have own some of the equipment you are looking at. I owned a B&W 703s and a Rotel 1072 amp. I also owned a Peach Tree Deco, and wyred4sound equipment… and McIntosh. My comments are all very general as it has been a long time and my syst...
Very new to high end audio - Recomendations
I personally agree with artemus_5 and I think passive speakers with an integrated amp is the way to get started. JBL 580s and 590s are good starter speakers. Every 3-6 month JBL sells them off their sight at 50% off or more. They are a screaming d...
Very new to high end audio - Recomendations
The studio monitors are gears toward near field listening (as in sitting at a desk or mixing board) and are very flat tonally. Lots of people want more color (more bass, less highs etc) than flat studio sounds. Me I like a flat sound. Many (maybe ...
Very new to high end audio - Recomendations
Active speaker are fine and you can run them as stated above. I can’t really recommend any as I have only used a few. Most people on here use passive speakers and separate power amps to tune the sound a bit more. Paradigm  kefDynaudoATCfocal B&...
Different subwoofer settings for different albums?
Nonsense….this only comes up if you want to hear the sub all the time. As in trying to add bass amplitude rather then extend the frequency. Once a sub is set flat with test tones it simply plays what is there and every album does tend to have diff...
Two amps, one preamp, one sub…
If they are truly the same wattage they will not really need adjusted. The room greatly dictates the bass. I have a few amps and seem to always end up with the same sub settings.
Magico A1 vs KEF Reference 1 (META) vs KEF LS50 + KEF KC62
Did you get one sub? If so I would buy another sub before switching speakers.
Magico A1 vs KEF Reference 1 (META) vs KEF LS50 + KEF KC62
Good to hear. Subs for the win every time.
Any idea which headphones I’d like?
Everything focal makes right now is pretty good. The Focal Elex on mass drop is only $600 and is every bit as good as the others. The Clear MG is pretty great at $1500. Don’t buy sennhieser HD800s, you will hate them…. Ear tweeters. I have had man...
I don't have sibilance problems, are my speakers dull?
While I am no expert sibilant is the result of having a peak in the upper midrange (somewhere between 3.5-6kzh).  Well designed speakers should not have sibilant issues no matter how revealing. The worst offenders I have come across are mid to low...
