Revel Concerta2 F36 and the like.... Good ear. While I have not heard those exact models I have owned B&W, Paradigm and currently own Revels (demoed kefs). Revel as a whole is more neutral than the other two. Make sure you spend time getting the subs just right.
HiFi vs MidFi Lol freediver got it 100% right and dropped the mic on his way out….
Bought a new McIntosh amp No worries on the Mac. I own something from all the brands you are talking about. I have McIntosh, Rotel amps, and receivers in the past (still use old Rotel on my rears). I own both Klipsch and Paradigm among other speakers. I have listened to al...
Krell K-300i (with its optional DAC) vs. McIntosh MA7200 (with DA1) vs. ? (including DAC) oldaudiophile,I can add my commentary. I own the Revel 228be with two subs and McIntosh MC462. I demoed the Sonus Faber Olympica III and Nova 3 a number of times. On Classe’ Delta gear and Musical fidelity. They were about 36” off the front well w...
Revel Performa F228 Be speaker... thoughts? Steve59,No, offense taken, Revels don’t fall in the pride of ownership category. They look too plain and the fit and finish is just not three. Not bad but clumsy/plastic looking next to Sonus Faber or Focal. They do however sound good in absolute ...
Basement 7.2 recommendation What are the dimensions of your room?I have found you really need a very large room for 7.1 to be worth it over 5.1. If you sit in the sweet spot 5.1 sound 99% like 7.1. The nice thing about 7.1 is covering more seats and off axis seats. It might ...

Drivers survived Wow, got lucky. Drivers must have had good mechanical stops.
Cornwall IV and subwoofers I have played with subs a lot over the years. 3 different rooms and 4 sets of speakers with the same subs. I have found two methods work for any speaker.#1 use a high-pass filter and crossover where the bass driver of the mains drops down -6db bef...
Cornwall IV and subwoofers Interesting about the different comments around the bass. I think it is what you are used too. I run subs (not with cornwalls) and every system without subs seems lacking to me. I need flat sound down to 20hz to be happy with a system. Now that I ...
Revel Performa F228 Be speaker... thoughts? Steve59,That is just the way of the world these days. Happens less in highend audio I guess. I own an $8,000 mountain bike and not a single part is made by the company I bought it from. They design it and outsource everything, even assembly. As fo...
Why the hate for mcintosh amps? I am getting a kit out of this thread as I read it and listen to my MC462/Revel combination. One of the best combinations I have owned and within spitting distance of anything I have heard. Revel is another brand that gets no love around here for ...
For B&Wers: How would 803 D2’s compare to Nautilus 802’s? One sub would work but it is a pain. I have two and had both break (failed volume pots) so I had one sub for a few months as I rotated them out for repair. After a few days of messing around I got it to sound good in the prime seat with one sub bu...
For B&Wers: How would 803 D2’s compare to Nautilus 802’s? Part two…YouTube I know, I know… anyway take a listen. B&W 804D2 vs Wilson Audio Sabrina. https://youtu.be/czrzC2kMf48https://youtu.be/Z0kia8GO6CA
For B&Wers: How would 803 D2’s compare to Nautilus 802’s? The Nautilus 802 is very old. From 2001ish if I am not mistaken. I would not trade a new speaker for an older on in the same brand. the 802D2 would be worth having. I can’t help directly but can tell you what I heard before. I have heard the 803D2... |
