new kef ls60s just arrived Yeah maybe. Price is high for the average person that is not super into hifi. For the longterm guy who has nice power/pre amp not really a good option. Probably right for the audiophile who needs a “sound bar” for the living room second system and...
Best speakers for a small room Anything with a rolled off bass because you will get a good bit of room gain below 60hz. Size of the speaker does not matter too much but how low it reaches will. Simple fix is just to use want ever speaker you want and EQ the bass.
low bass response You don’t need room for bass but you kind of do…, I mean headphones make good low bass with zero distance but you hear the direct wave. A 20hz wave is 54’ long and will bump into walls, bounce back and cancel itself out. Like two baseballs coming...
B&W 800D3 or ML Renaissance 15A This review might give you some insight into how the house sounds compare. personally I would expand your demos and look at used Wilson (Yvette is real nice at used prices), used Focal Sopra 3s or save some cash and check out the Revel 328be. ...
B&W 800D3 or ML Renaissance 15A I am always afraid of longterm channel balance (right to left) with aging electrostatic panels but that might not be based in reality…. Never owned any. ML has a very small sweet spot so be ready to mess around with placement. I like them ok but h...
Can a set of Ls50 metas surpass or equal a set of Kef blade metas with subwoofers Don’t discount the driver differences. The blades crossover from the woofers at 300hz based on measurements. Kef claims 350hz. the sub will be fine at 80hz and down but there will most likely a sound power issue between the 80hz and 300hz cross...
low bass response I would measure the room. Can just be test tones streamed and a simple DB meter. The only other thing I would add is distances between the front and side walls. You really need to be below 39” or over 7’ not to cancel out the low bass. This is...
Subwoofer with Floorstanding Speakers? I run subs with large speakers. Without the subs my system is just ok but with the subs it is outstanding. Bass really matters and does make a huge difference All speakers need subs. Even wilson audio runs subs with their supersize speakers....
Speaker/Room Acoustic Problem Interesting. I had a pair of Theil 2.4 is a 11x12’ room once during a basement remodel. Sounded good with silly amounts of bass lol. I also have a home theater but in a very large room and the entire ceiling is treated with 6” of mineral wool and...
JL Audio Eii2 subwoofer I own 2 (picture under my prophile) and I would not recommend them. They sound great as good as the fathom honestly minus the room correction BUT both have broken twice. The crossovers went bad in both subs within the first few months of ownership...
Interesting ASR review of small GR Research speaker kit As a 25 year audiophile I can tell you measurements matter a lot but are just a stage gate for me. I am not interested in poor measuring speakers/equipment but that does not mean I like every good measuring speaker as not all things of value are m...
Interesting ASR review of small GR Research speaker kit Those kipple measurements are right for sure and I imagine the comments are correct. The design of those speakers is just dumb. GR Research top kits seem like good sound for the money though. I have seen a few comments about the cheap drivers ...
Interesting ASR review of small GR Research speaker kit A tiny driver will never be good. No replacement for displacement. They might be ok in the extreme near field (1-2’ desk speakers). GR resource made a “rebuttal” video already. For me? Measurements matter but not everything important is meas...
what headphones work for sports and activities? I use Etymotic ER4XR at the gym. You need to wear the wire over your ear and the wire in front of your neck to kill the micro phonics. The tonal balance very closely matched my home system and they have the best noise isolation on the market. I ow...
Clayton Shaw (Spatial Audio) visits Danny Richie (GR Research), with his X4 loudspeaker. Looks nice, probably better as a 3 way then a 2.5 way. I question running a 12” driver up to 1khz but I am just a keyboard warrior lol. |
