Perlisten S4b and D12s in house
The drivers look like 7” versions of the SATORI TeXtreme from SB accustics. A good driver brand used by Revel. https://sbacoustics.com/product/7%C2%BD-satori-mw19tx-4-textreme/They are interesting speakers for sure. Too bad the subs are so pricy. ...
Speaker Decision Paralysis (for large volume loft space)
Sitting in the near field will work is almost any room.  You could make “false” back and side walls with free standing room treatments behind your seat and or beside the speakers. This would cut down on the energy sent around the room. https://www...
New Klipsch Jubilee, with active crossover.
This might be the driver in it. Link with measurement of the driver below. https://celestion.com/product/axi2050/
New Klipsch Jubilee, with active crossover.
Klipsch website says 5” diaphragm. 7” seemed really large for a compression driver and also seemed large to be used as the mid/tweeter. JBL is using a duel 3” in their M2. It would be interesting to hear how they compare. 5” makes more sense but s...
New Klipsch Jubilee, with active crossover.
And see measurement… not that I am all about measurements but when you can’t hear them I like to see them. I believe in active crossovers. I wish more brands would have active crossovers. The passive amplification with passive crossover could be i...
Have you moved away from full range to standmount speakers + subs?
Big speakers WITH subs is the way to go. Listen to Douglas Schroeder he is one of the few good reviews left. Look at what JBL does with their active M2 horn speaker. They put crazy amounts of power on it on a very efficient speaker.
Bye Bye Puppy!
New Wilsons have less peaky bass than the older models. I think you will discover more texture in the bass over the older models as you get used to them.
used mc452 or new mc312
There are a bunch of certified McIntosh repair shops around. Has to be one of the best supported brands. No worries there.
Revel salon 2 break-in period?
peaceunderearth,I would agree with your points. I think it is more psychoacoustic but also feel perception is reality. A couple of subs to underpin the revels and tune to the room/tastes makes them about perfect.
Focal, B&W or Martin Logan
Travelinjack,I have owned Focal speakers out of the Chorus line for an old home theater. Nice for the money. The higher end Focals keep the same sound but are on another level for clarity and soundstage while maybe a little leaner. Revels (that I ...
Why so much love for Mcintosh?
One is $45,000 one is $9000…. One measures real bad and one real good…One gets universal praise on audiogon and one gets bashed…. Really makes you wonder. https://www.stereophile.com/content/dan-dagostino-master-audio-systems-progression-m550-mono...
Focal, B&W or Martin Logan
An $8 pack of furniture movers from Home Depot makes any chair a moveable chair. All good speakers. If you are not real sure what you want I would always lean toward neutral speakers as you can always add subs for bass or highs with EQ (yeah I kno...
Focal, B&W or Martin Logan
I find McIntosh a good paring with B&W for what it is worth. You might not like either brand. B&W has a lot of tech and is build very well but they have a strong house tuning for a highend speaker. At these price points I want it pretty tr...
Focal, B&W or Martin Logan
It would be an easy choice for me to go with the Focals in this case. They are very balanced but lack low bass extension. Pushing up agents the wall might actually help a bit. If you could get the driver face out to 24” you probably would be fine....
Room rearrangement. Cable question
In reality any of the options are fine. I have done all the above and bet I could not pass a blind test on any of it. 10g wire is good for 34’ before the added resistance is an issue. 12 gauge is good for 22’.
