Cartridge Loading into Step-Up Transformer
Thank you very much for the input here.  The pasted links above provide for much education on the handling of the required gain and ultimately the loading.  I read this material several times to understand the subtleties. I just bought to Hashimot...
Top Ten "Reasons I Don't Like This Component"
Viridian, did you ever consider turning your amp upside down?  Put it on some nice isolation feet and voila.
Does anyone care to ask an amplifier designer a technical question? My door is open.
Thank you Roger and AL.  Fortunately, the adapters I bought have 2 small screws to allow the case to be opened.  I can cut the wire soldered from the negative to ground.  I will give this a try.
Does anyone care to ask an amplifier designer a technical question? My door is open.
Thank you for the responses above.  The preamp is Aria WV5, the last design by Michael Elliot of Counterpoint 10 years ago.  The last thing I want to do is to put anything else in the line such as a transformer. My experience has been that the most...
Does anyone care to ask an amplifier designer a technical question? My door is open.
Hello Roger,Years and years ago I re-tubed my ARC SP-10 with your RAM tubes and the phono stage quieted down mighty well.  And then a year or so later I heard your RM200 amp at a dealer in Phoenix and that was a very nice sound as well.  Thirty ye...
Solid State vs. Tubes - What if Transistors came first?
M51 - I am curious as to what preamp/line stage, amp and DAC you are using.
Amp for Sonus Faber Amati Futura
This thread has been dead for 3+ years, pretty much 5 years.  Are there are Futura owners who can share some experiences with hearing/trying/comparing amps in their system or at dealer?
Has Linn Gone Crazy? They Stopped Making Pre-Amps
I wish Linn would stop with the lame use of the letter K. The 'cleverness" was gone back in the early 80s!
Super-sensitive volume controls - remedy?
Almarg - I bought the Rothwells to help achieve a more common volume control setting for CD to match with the Aria preamp's built-in phono stage. I tried the Rothwells on the preamp's CD input. This helped a lot to bring the CD closer to the phono...
Super-sensitive volume controls - remedy?
Do attenuators like the Rothwells impose any sort of penalty related to sonic quality? Absolutely they do!!!!!!! I tried these several years ago and they literally destroyed the 3D performance and less so, the dynamics. Horrible horrible horrible ...
Suggestions? Tubed linestage pre-amp??
Ghost- I am not surprised by your observations with the products with tubed power supplies. For whatever reason, there is something magical dimensionally with tube rectifiers. If you end up with a product using the EZ80, the Amperex Bugle Boy is i...
Which main power cord?
We speak from experience. That's funny…..so do I. But I never get obsessed with any one company. And I do not get too carried away with any one designer as there is a wealth of talented audio engineers out there constantly improving the reproducti...
High Fidelity Cables CT-1designed by Rick Schultz
They will be gone soon. as suggested in an earlier post, don't bother reading anything from Mapman, Jafox or Jmcgrogan2 as they don't have or don't care about audio systems and are just trolling for attention.Well Ddraudt - I have been on these fo...
Absolute top tier DAC for standard res Redbook CD
AL, my experience is that tube-rolling is much more profound than power cables in SOME links. I have found that tubes in any component can contribute to dramatic sonic changes. However, with cables, my experience has been that there is a definite ...
Which main power cord?
It would be best to use same brand of power cable as power conditioner. Nonsense! There are many great products out there from various brands that integrate far better than those all from the same brand. Take advantage of the opportunity to buy us...
