Rega R3
I have the RS3 and I really like them. I have a small room (10X12) and (in my opinion) they are easy to drive and sound very transparent with a great deal of resolution. They replaced a pair of Monitor Audio RS6, which excited and overloaded the r...
Anyone have honest opinion of Jolida amps?
I owned a Jolida 202 years ago and enjoyed it, but that was before the controversy over the "Chinese" Jolida vs. the "Maryland" Jolida. I read the article that described the difference in the nameplates and what was a "real" Jolida and what was no...
Floorstanders for small room 10x10ft
You may also want to look at Rega RS3. I have a similar-size room to yours. I went through alot of different speakers through the years in that room including Magnepan 1.6's, Martin Logan Aerius, Monitor Audio RS6, Thiel 1.2, and the list goes on....
running audio research d300 bridged
I can confirm what Elizabeth stated from experience with the older ARC amps that could be bridged. The D52B, D100, etc. clearly stated if you bridge them, 8 Ohm is the minimum impedance. We fried at least one of them bridged driving an old pair of...
running audio research d300 bridged
You are better off calling ARC. I ran a D300 with a pair of 1.6's also. I listen fairly loud, but the power of the amp seemed almost limitless (I miss that amp). I was not aware that you could bridge them, so asking the manufacturer may be the bes...
Classe move to China
Unfortunately this country is finished - sold out by big business and politicians - it is not a question of if, but a question of when. We are forced to buy alot of stuff from China as part of everyday life essentials. For non-essential (luxury) i...
b&w 685: heard 'em, liked 'em, but wondering
You may also want to consider the Rega RS1 because they are a fine sounding speaker and easy to drive.

Rega RS1
Smallish floorstander that sounds good placed just
I recently bought a pair of Rega RS3 and they get my vote also. I have never heard or owned the Arro's and I'm sure they are very good, but I can speak for the Rega's and I enjoy them very much.
Why do no audio enthusiasts use McIntosh?
Frepec - I agree with you. There are some people who like to stir up controversy just to see the response. I have owned some gear by varios manufacturers through the years including McIntosh, Audio Research, Conrad-Johnson, Bryston, Cary, Manley, ...
Rega RS1 and RS3 speakers
I had the R1's and traded-up to the RS3 and I use a Manley Stingray integrated. I really enjoyed the R1's but I wanted a bit more bass. The RS3's seem to maintain the same nice midrange and treble as the R1's but with added bass from the side-firi...
Your impressions on Paradigm Studio 60 v5?
Last year a local dealer allowed me to take home a demo pair of Studio 60 V5 and I sat them next to my Monitor Audio RS6 to compare side-by-side. I liked the Paradigms but in my system and my room, I felt they had some additional resolution compar...
Is McIntosh a stepping stone into HI/FI?
I have owned equipment from McIntosh and a few other manufacturers (Audio Research, Conrad Johnson, McCormack, Bryston, Cary, Manley, to name a few). I found the McIntosh gear to be very reliable, good sounding, and had a great re-sale value. If i...
Martin Logan Aeris i's with Rogue Cronus Magnum
I only used the 4-Ohm taps because I believe the nominal impedance of the speakers is 4-Ohms, although they dip much lower at certain frequencies. So I never tried the 8-Ohm taps myself. The previous owner of the speakers used a McIntosh 275 tube ...
Martin Logan Aeris i's with Rogue Cronus Magnum
I have not owned Rogue gear, but I can comment on driving the speakers with a tube amp. I drove my Aerius i's with an Audio Research VT-60 and it sounded great. I thought the nasty impedance curve would pose a problem for the tube amp, but even on...
