Simaudio 260D - As transport
The CXC might be consider as very good value for money transport but raises questions why Cambridge doesn’t publish critical information such as THD, signal to noise ratio,Intrinsic Jitter and so on as Simaudio and other brands do.

Yes they do I just buught their 260DT transport (due to arrive in July) the dealer gave 10 years (!) warranty .

Yes same as mine the CXC tends to click on scratched CDs.I bought the Simaudio 260DT (due to arrive on July) hope it will handle better lousy CDs.

McIntosh D100 Digital preamp review
I am not sure you can because the USB can function only if you installed their driver to your compouter so the d100 can recognise the incoming source(your computer). 
Comparing these CD players with my gear...
in the less than $500 category the Cambridge Audio CXC is better option a pure CD transport without inner DAC.

I would consider pre plus power (not integrated) of Macintosh or Bryston for the D48R ,it will cost you more than 5K for new but for speakers that cost around 10k do deserve better amplification maybe you can find better options in your budget at ...

I own the McIntosh D100 and love its 'honest' sound signature  very neutral and natural you are hearing excatly what was recorded without any kind of  coloration or exaggeration .How did you find the McIntosh compare to the Bryston and the Yggdras... 
PMC 24 and Canalis Cambria two way floorstanders; What is the advantage to this design?:
Your system certenly deserve much better speakers than the GET  , I can recommend speakers with pro/studio approach: ATC,Proac,PMC,Spendor or Bryston. You can't go wrong with this brands.
