Help - is Krell dead?
@musicmatters1206 the microcontroller will make the unit stop working if it’s set up for 60hz and it is used on 50hz. That’s how krell set up most of their equipment to counter grey market sales. I’m not saying your CD player has that, but it might.
Help - is Krell dead?
Most of the krell equipment has a microcontroller that senses 50 or 60hz , there are ways to bypass it according to some on the diy audio forum.
Looking for 5AR4 rectifier tube most like solid state
I very much doubt that voltage sag is the problem with a preamp. I have compare 866a tubes with 3b28 tubes, (which only drop about 15 volts and have great regulation) and they sound different, so it can't be voltage sag.
Looking for 5AR4 rectifier tube most like solid state
@danager +1 on the space tech lab super rectifier, I own one and it makes a profound difference with my preamp. I don't know exactly why it makes such a difference, but it does, if I want it to sound more like solid state I just roll in a couple 3...
Relaxed/Analog sounding DAC for under $10k (used or new)
If you like the sound of the upper model lampizator dacs, look into the space tech lab DA-DSD1024-8X-TUBE dac, it uses 8 dual triode  tubes as part of the up sampling circuit. I haven't heard this particular dac, but I do own a less expensive spac...
Solo streamer
@mdalton You say that manufacturers don’t include any measurements to defend that streamers can make a difference, but once Sony didn’t know what audiophiles were complaining about when CD players first came out, and it was later figured out that...
I have just 2 words for all you jazz/blues music lovers...........
@Deep_333 another drive by post just like Jasonbourne52.
Why are high efficiency speakers preferred for low volume listening?
@steve59 The meters on an amplifier are not going to accurately measure the peak power you are using, in fact not even close.
Grounded Speaker Cable
I've never heard of such a thing. Who makes this cable? It sounds like it could be an issue with some amplifiers that do not share common grounds. It seems like it could be a problem with a floating ground, it definitely wouldn't work with one ...
Audiophile grade passive impedance buffer
Al from space tech can build whatever you need, just give him a call or email, he usually answers in a few hours or less.
Audiophile grade passive impedance buffer
Space tech labs has several balanced tube buffers.
Why are high efficiency speakers preferred for low volume listening?
I listen to my apogee duetta 2 speakers at low volume with no loss of detail, it's quite enjoyable.
Looking for RCA cables from preamp to amp?
@cleeds  you are absolutely correct that silver has better conductivity than copper, it would be nice if others did some homework before posting misinformation.
Watts! How many do we need?
@atmasphere  There is actually a high end audio amp that can make 6,000 watts RMS into 2ohms the Dan D'Agostino relentless 1600.
Digital vs Analog experiment
@jasonbourne71  no, the louder sample doesn't always sound better, especially if you listen for a longer duration. By your logic then compressed music would sound best.
