Tube tester?
If you are not really experienced with tubes, a tube testers can be a good thing and a bad thing, sure you can weed out shorted tubes that aren’t any good, but you may also be throwing out tubes that are gassy and are not bad. My advice would be t...
What's your experience with snooty HiFi salesmen?
@ozzy  I have to agree with you about Paragon audio, they will let you listen to any system they have even if you say you are not buying anything today.

DAC for second system
Consider a Topping DAC.   A friend of mine bought a Topping DAC, he's just getting into audio, he said the topping sounded the same as his CD player from the 80's, but he did say it made music from his computer sound better.

Describe the "new HiFi sound"?
I find that all that Dolby processing takes away from the music.
The problem with PLC
Funny you say that. Most of his inventions were theoretical so not tangible.    Most of his works were discoveries not inventions, and some were proven while he was still alive.

I don't think ESL's are the only loudspeakers that don't suffer from thermal compression, what about full range panel speakers like apogees?
