My system has just received the ultimate insult
Married 21 years and going strong ... and I completely agree with Kelly. Try the fix-it suggestions, and it'd be great if they work, but so what if this is just your hobby and not hers too? You need to be n sync (ouch) on the important issues, and...
What is your upgrade philosophy?
Bob (et al),Your last comments I have learned the hard way over the years on other pursits. Seems I am never sorry for buying QUALITY. A co-worker from long ago had two signs on the wall:"The bitterness of poor quality remains long after the sweet...
Direct View or Rear Projection TV
Burn-in is possible with projection TV's if they are badly adjusted (contrast and brightness too high) and a constant image is projected for VERY extended periods of time. I have 4 years on my RPTV with no burn-in whatsoever. Have a room where you...
Pre amp to sub hookup, or speaker level?
Is your sub passive or powered? If passive, you MUST provide amplification and run speaker level to it, but don't just bug off the same terminals as your main speakers. You'll need another amp and y-connect the pre to both amps. If powered probabl...
What is your upgrade philosophy?
Thanks to all for the responses so far.Craig, i've done as you suggest might be the appropriate way. I found speakers I really liked and now am looking to optimize the surrounding/supporting gear. It's both fun and daunting. I find much appeal and...
Evo owners What speakers work well with your amp?
Have a friend that has gone from Classe/KEF to Classe/B&WNautilus to BelCanto/B&W - I'll see if I can get him to post some thoughts, but I know he's REALLY happy.
Suggestions on replacement AV processor...
Many/most prepro's these days will have an analog pass-through for your 2-ch pre and whatever source components are hooked to it. So you don't necessarily have to physically separate your systems, except ... The worst part of an integrated system ...
Your Advice on a good HT receiver
The receiver has a 4/8 ohm switch, which is a current limiter, telling me it may be a bit challenged by tough loads. With dips to 1.3 ohms, I would NOT try to run them full-range and loud, but you may get away with having a sub taking the low freq...
Best A/V Receiver Under 700
Yes, you are right ... my slip.
Your Advice on a good HT receiver
Sarah,I agree the Outlaw 1050 is a great bargain at $499 (and I know someone selling a used one at $350 if it isn't already gone), but it is only 65wpc and is a little limited on digital inputs. Website is www.outlawaudio.comMusically, I think a u...
Your Advice on a good HT receiver
Can you psot the efficiency and impedance infor on the Aeon? Most M-L present a somewhat difficult load for a receiver. Combination of a little lower cost receiver and separate 2-ch amp might make sense.
Newbie question.. Preamp and Sub
Jin,To amplify (sorry :-) what Greg said, the sub is inserted between your pre and your speakers by either using line level (RCA) inputs/outputs on the sub (inserted between pre and amplifier) or speaker level inputs/outputs (inserted between ampl...
5 ch amp decision- opinions please
I agree with Tim (the other Tim ... well, this one too unless I'm schizo). I'd guess you are setting all your speakers to small (running less than full range), in which case many of these amps are overkill wrt power. You could downsize and put mor...
Best A/V Receiver Under 700
Outlaw is manufactured in NH. Website www.outlawaudio.com. They seem to make very high value products, and have a loyal following. Check out the 950 prepro (hopefully) coming out by year's end. Good luck.
Most compatable amp for ACI Sapphire III
Lisa,Sorry to hear of your experience at the B&M. I'm here in Cary/Raleigh where they make both Soliloquoy and Cary, and you missed out on what could have been a very nice-sounding combo. But I've heard great things about Mike Dzurko and the A...
