Nature of the current used speaker market
Yup. It's increasingly easy to make money if you already have a lot of it, virtually no effort. Those people buy new, some of them are even audiophiles. It's mafia syndicate capitalism.Happy listening, as some here say.
Nature of the current used speaker market
In fact, $6k for excellent speakers is not much if you keep them for a long time. We pay more for cell phones and cable. I personally am just not in the mood to finance audiophile purchases, and credit card rates are not good. I do think that audi...

Question is what is big now ?
Could I be a Retail Wretch?
No-one forces people to buy on-line, just don't buy new equipment on-line.
Turntable got absolutely crushed by CD
I hope analog recording stays alive. Question is how many audiophiles are prepared to pay $100 for a record with excellent music and great recording ? Or $200 ? I am, a few records a year, no more. And I would need to listen to it before buying, e...
Is the Last Record Preservative system a worthwhile investment?
By the way, tape also sounds a little better when the play head is treated with head preservative, and record head when recording. Tape moves more smoothly, very simple. I don't use LAST tape preservative because I can't apply it with cassettes, w...
Nature of the current used speaker market
However, things are good for poor audiophiles and music lovers. There are decent sounding used $1k speakers and integrated amps and $200 cables.Yes, Western middle class has been creating Asian one while disappearing in the process. This sacrifice...
Audiogon member suggestions for a speaker that sounds good at low volume!!!
Any good speakers should sound good at low volume , excellent at modest volume and at least very good at higher volume. But you lose bass at low volume, not all of it but enough, perhaps it's not a concern. Also, I would suggest speakers with woof...
Is the Last Record Preservative system a worthwhile investment?
I decided to use Lyra stylus cleaner instead of LAST because they claim it does not dissolve the glue, and it doesn't.Besides, I have $500 MM cartridge and don't worry about stylus wear, it's $375 to replace. For now, after about 700 hours of play...
Nature of the current used speaker market
The same appears to be with electronics, nobody buys nothing. People with cash buy new, others either don't buy at all or buy something less expensive. Middle class is gone.
Could I be a Retail Wretch?
About a year ago, mostly out of curiosity, I asked Gryphon distributor for a current price list thru email. Next day I got the complete price list and also another email from a local dealer inviting me to come listen to Gryphon. Now that's differe...
Is the Last Record Preservative system a worthwhile investment?
I clean stylus with Lyra stylus cleaner before each play. I think, the smallest bottle of the LAST was enough for 50 or 60 records but I didn’t count, so it’s $1 per record or less, almost like nothing even for me.
How important is it for you to attain a holographic image?
Geoff, well said.
Is the Last Record Preservative system a worthwhile investment?
Bill, since I applied it only on played records I don't know. I don't buy new records, a few that I did were thrown away after cleaning and playing once.
