speakers and cables @immatthewj Frequency response ( 3dB): 40Hz 23kHz my subs’ dial start at 80Hz so I can’t go below that. Hmmm . . . if I am understanding the last sentence correctly, your sub is going from at least as high as 80 hZ and down? And that means ...
speakers and cables I was asking about how low your L and R main speakers theoretically go.
speakers and cables @grisly, what are the specs on your mains? Or did you already say how low do they theoretically go, and I missed it?
Absorption behind components and speakers rationale? It appears as if those Bubos acoustical panels from Amazon are only 0.4 " thick.
Would like to try a tube preamp after years of solid state and hybrid @immatthewj - I seem to have a gut feeling that Cary would be a great option for me. The SLP 98L gets a lot of good reviews and one is available for $2,000. I'm not sure that I would like the exposed tubes. I just read something from a old Aud...
If A.I. took the place of musicians, would you listen to it? every once in awhile I try and re-live my 90's rave days I missed out on all of that. Was that where everybody got loaded up on MDMA and danced and partied all night? Sounds like fun.
I’m confused. Please explain. When I listen to Willie on my system, it sounds like Willie, and sounds better than any of his live shows that I’ve attended, although you lose the excitement of watching him make music. Plus 1, @kerrybh. I’d say the same thing, except I have n...
speakers and cables @griz, I didn't find your diagram to be fuzzy. On to finding a new power amp. An integrated might be the way to go at this point--particularly if you could find one with a pair of RCA outs in the preamp section for the subs.
Would like to try a tube preamp after years of solid state and hybrid Conrad-Johnson PV 5, PV 10, PV 11, or other Audible Illusions Modulus L3 or M3 Cary SLP-70 VAC Standard LE Joule Electra LA-150 (in spite of the fact that they are out of business) Audio Research (although I can’t decipher which model to con...
speakers and cables @grisly, that's interesting. I think that is the one method that has not been suggested by anybody in this thread: L speaker output from amp to L speaker and L speaker to L sub. And then the same for the R side.
Absorption behind components and speakers rationale? I get that absorption panels are used to absorb the first reflection I thought that the general rule of thumb was diffusion panels at the first point of reflection? Had I thought wrong?
speakers and cables @immathewj I plugged in the splitters and rewired the speakers. The speakers definitely "came forward". The subs seem to have a weaker signal - maybe because it's low level, but I can boost the gain for sure. I will listen now for a couple hours...
speakers and cables @grisly, this thread and the many replies to it left me with a few questions about my own system (which is actually a good thing--to be periodically evaluating your system and possible changes that could be made to setting up the existing componen...
ReL Subs: High Level or Low Level connection @oddiofyle I like to run my mains full range, never with any type of high pass going to my Amp. With a low crossover the REL will never call attention to itself. Does that mean you are running 'low level"'?
speakers and cables . . . @griz: I don’t know if you’ve happened upon it yet, but if not, at this very moment there is a thread/discussion on the amps/preamps forum (right here on A’gon) about merging the sound of subs with the main speakers. (This thread is NOT abou... |
