RIP Christine McVie
Wow. That’s a bummer. (I just heard it now, on the news, minutes after I read it here. She was 79.)
Power conditioner vs use of a audio grade outlet?
@erik_squires  , on the same subject, what is it that happens to the voltage carried by the white neutral wire when it reaches the neutral/ground bar in the electrical panel that makes it no longer dangerous?
Power conditioner vs use of a audio grade outlet?
@erik_squires  , thank you for the explanation.
Power conditioner vs use of a audio grade outlet?
@erik_squires  , it took a while, but I think I have finally comprehended the 15A/20A outlet subject. But Oh dear dark goddess of the undworld..... no!! 🤣 @vaejoviscarolinanus The correct thing to do is to use a GFCI outlet OR to have an ele...
Power conditioner vs use of a audio grade outlet?
@erik_squires  , okay, thanks, I must have misunderstood something on that previous thread.  I'll try to find it later & maybe paste the link to it for you?
Power conditioner vs use of a audio grade outlet?
@erik_squires  you will not get any argument from me re NEC.  I am totally learning.  It was just that I participated in a thread not all that long ago, ad to make the long story shorter, I was saying that I had 20A outlets and 12-2 and I was prot...
One dedicated circuit for each mono block?
You are right, @dpop  , I didn't know anything at all about houses back then so I didn't really know what to ask & I cannot blame the home inspector for my knowledge deficit.  I did get a report from him and a lot of that stuff may be in the r...
Power conditioner vs use of a audio grade outlet?
@erik_squires  , the pictured outlet is a 15A outlet?  Which would require a 15A breaker?
One dedicated circuit for each mono block?
Thanks @dpop  , this is educational.  I was just wishing that the home inspector I hired would have pointed some things out for me.  This was back in '92 and I had never owned a home before, so a lot of that stuff didn't mean anything to me (fuse ...
One dedicated circuit for each mono block?
Thanks again, @dpop  I was behind my panel in the last few weeks adding some additional lines and I recall being confused that there was not nearly as many uninsulated grounds as there were whites on the neutral/ground bar.  what is interesting is...
One dedicated circuit for each mono block?
@dpop  , thanks!  I do have the tester already  (I was dropping some new lines in previously)  I take it that  the 'standard (non-isolated ground) outlet (which uses the conduit or metal clad cable ground)' you referred to will have the 3rd ground...
One dedicated circuit for each mono block?
Okay, thanks @dpop  I am thinking I should pull one of those old outlets without the third wire and see what's going on back there.  We are not using them for much, some lamps, cordless phone, clock, etc, but probably enough to be a fire hazard?
One dedicated circuit for each mono block?
@ditusa  you have given me something else to ruminate & worry about.  I own a house built in the ’60s and when I bought it it did have the old style fuse box and there is one circuit with a few outlets WITHOUT the 3rd wire (ground). Is there ...
Plug Amp directly to Mains or use a Power Conditioner?
There was a post to this thread that was deleted and it hd a link to something sort of like "the dangers lurking behind your walls" or something like that) & it was about old &/or bad wiring. This got me to thinking, as like the OP of this...
Plug Amp directly to Mains or use a Power Conditioner?
I was once almost exactly where you are at (house built in the '60s, many of the outlets ungrounded, antique electrical panel)..  Is your electrical panel an antique and if not do you have any space left for another circuit?  It would not cost tho...
