Should we care if a piece of equipment comes from a pet-free, kid-free, smoke-free home?
I like my audio to come from fascist free homes.
Is positive reinforcement why things are sounding better?
@immatthewj  Confirmation biases has nothing to do with "lying to ourself" in particular or specifically Yes, it does, obviously. Careful, @hilde45  , you are heading down the road to crazy-town.  Don't worry. I have enough to do in life t...
Integrated for Cornwall IV
I’m interested in the Cornwall IV’s and have been researching them. My present system has both a class A amp (Pass XA25) and Quicksilver Mono 60 tube amps (which can run KT77s, about 25w each). After doing a bunch of research on these very sensit...
If you have a nice system why do you really need room treatments?
the real world means no dedicated listening room, probably the majority here.... A lot of people using room treatments have no clue as to where to even place them, rendering them useless or even detrimental. Many people -- not everyone -- have...
My new review for The Absolute Sound comparing AGD GAN amps with BHK300’s
And that load of crap about “unobtainium” audio GaN MOSFETS!!!  Gees Louis!!! Switching MOSFETS have been used in high dollar audio amps for DECADES!! GaN MOSFETS are still MOSFETS!! Most are very linear but the GaN have efficient on/off states. ...
Give Up on Bacch?
My two cents: this technology is in the early stages. It costs more now and will probably get better. I'd just return it and see what evolves.
If you have a nice system why do you really need room treatments?
Translation: "I'm really lazy and treatments are a hassle so I think I'll just pretend that room treatments can never matter if you have the right system." The room is half the equation. Ignore it and you will get the sound you deserve.

Thin Line Between Critique and Courtrooms: A Dialogue on the Recent Audiophile Drama
There seems to be comity between the parties. There's back and forth after this pinned posting, so I don't really know where things stand, now. But this seems to be pull-back from litigation. For more, see this discussion: Pinned by Youthman ...
Is positive reinforcement why things are sounding better?
confirmation bias does not last very long.  over the longer run is where you tell if an upgrade really is an upgrade. Well said. I tried to lie to myself about Be tweeters until I just...couldn't...take it. Those of us who practice this hobby...

If your question is an earnest one, +1 @benanders  If you're just looking for moral support, +1 @jeffseight
Your thoughts on best audiophile speakers in $10,000 neighborhood?
There are so many speakers out there. A couple questions in my mind include: (a) Do you want speakers you can move around from time to time without hiring someone? This is an important question to me, because I like to try out positioning things ...
Seek advice on forums but always listen to your own ears!
You can only trust your ears if you have good ears and know what to listen for. Otherwise it can really be helpful to take advice and direction from others. 100% agree. The advice that one has to "listen for themself" is true enough, but as wit...
klipsch cornwall iv upgraded crossovers
Just tuning into this interesting conversation now because I’m considering the CW IV’s. I understand the various factors here. It is hard to see the logic of the CW’s not being improvable, unless the argument is that these speakers were designed ...
Are You A Disciplined Audiophile?
I kind of like having the "crazy" posts around. Thankfully, we don't have to pay by the word, or it would get expensive, fast.
