Jay's Audio Lab Visits GR Research's Listening Room My impression is that Jay's channel is mainly organized around very very expensive gear; it's a Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous for audiophiles. If the GR stuff is not in that price category, I would expect that Jay loving it would be off-brand ...
Re; Dynamics, Class D vs tubes… The Class D amps I've tried have been far more dynamic than my tube and Class A amps. But not more engaging, musical, sonorous, inviting, mellow, inviting, or lubricious.
Anyone wear gloves to handle vacuum tubes? @vuch I use special hand stitched, exotic leather, custom made Would that be fine Corinthian leather?
Anyone wear gloves to handle vacuum tubes? Do you remove teeth first or leave them in your mouth? Those tubes like a little bite along with the pressure, so I leave the teeth in.
The Sacred Ritual of Vinyl: A Return to Mindful Listening I have 6,000 LPs from a very wide variety of genres Wow. Impressive. If I had that many albums, I'd have no choice to advocate for vinyl because the cognitive dissonance at thinking some other format was better would be unendurable.
The Sacred Ritual of Vinyl: A Return to Mindful Listening I use my phone for reading. I use it for listening …. to podcasts. Never for music. To each his own. My point is merely that intention begins with me or it doesn't. When I had a turntable, back in the day, sometimes I would lift the needle...
The Sacred Ritual of Vinyl: A Return to Mindful Listening When I want to listen intentionally on my streamer, I put on an album and then I put my phone down.
Anyone wear gloves to handle vacuum tubes? I use kitchen tongs. Just kidding. I use my teeth.
Willsenton vs Billie MK 1 It seems to have a decent impedance profile (though I have not seen a curve): "The sensitivity as reported by Merlin is 87dB/W/m, and the impedance is 8 Ohms nominal with a 6.5 Ohms minimal rating." https://enjoythemusic.com/magazine/equipment/070...
Mike's Barn. @lalitk Thanks! I learned a lot from your reply. I have three pairs of speakers, two preamps, and (until yesterday) 6 amps (several borrowed), so I totally understand the A/B adventure.
Mike's Barn. I enjoyed seeing it. If anyone can explain why one might intentionally have two turntables, I'm curious.
And the biggest influence on sound quality is... The quality of the recording itself. Then the room, the setup, the speakers, and lastly the front end. Try playing your speakers outside and see if you reevaluate the importance of the room. ;-)
Oh no, say it ain't so. @superblueapm my new system has me branching out to so much more music than I had been listening to. And back to stuff, I once loved. Perfect! This is me, too. Paying attention to sound leads one to more music, and vice-versa. Imagine so...
Is this a new trend? Seems like you’re looking for data like this: https://www.grandviewresearch.com/industry-analysis/loudspeaker-market Otherwise, I have no idea why you see the advertisements you see. Maybe others in this forum are market analysts with actual em...
Upgrade to sound quality of Dynaudio Heritage speakers The Benchmark AHB2 would manhandle the dyns. Only question is would you like the combination. Much less expensive ($3500) than a lot of other amps. Hell, you could get two and run them as monos. E.g. I’ve had the AHB2 for the past few weeks, an... |
