What does "voiced" mean to you?
As others have said "voicing" applies to the sound the equipment designer is going for.  What we as system owners do is choose to purchase components whose voicing in concert with our other components gives our system the sound that is most musica...
RHB Designs Rhumba 1.1 preamp
@sbank  The last time I was to Bob's he was working on the rollout of his own preamps.  I couldn't agree with you more regarding your assessment of Bob.  Really good guy who as you say is in it fir the right reasons.  He knows good sound and how t...
How did you choose your equipment?
@williewonka   I am jealous!  Way to go Toronto.  As a recently retired audiophile I would love to have all of those stereo shops to visit.  Living in the Amish country of southcental PA I don't expect an audiophile Renaissance to occur here anyti...
How did you choose your equipment?
@williewonka  "Visiting your local audio retailer: Honestly, how many of us do this anymore"  How great would it be if there actually were brick and mortar stores around.  It used to be fun to just drop by a local audio salon and browse with eyes ...
Does the heat an amp puts out have any effect on the sound quality ?
I recently upgraded my speakers to a model that is less efficient than my previous speakers.  I have been noticing that my amp although warm before is hotter all the time now as it has to work a bit harder into the speakers with lower efficiency. ...
Vandersteen Treo vs 3A Sig as upgrade
@ig316b  I just looked up your system.  Very nice gear.  I see we share an appreciation for upgraded McCormack components!  I truly hope you get the chance to hear Treo CTs.  I have had Vandersteen 2C, then Model 3 upgraded to 3A, upgraded to Sign...

some things really do "trickle down".
My most remarkable service experience ever.
I've been involved with PS Audio products for decades.  Back then it was a very small enterprise.  They got to be the more affluent corporation they are today because of the culture of customer value that trickles down from Paul McGowan.
PS Audio Detect Power Center vs past PS Audio conditioners
tough topic!  To condition or not to condition is one of the most contentious topics in all of audio.  There are those who swear that any conditioner will detract dynamics both micro and macro from the sound.  Others testify to cleaner smoother mo...
My most remarkable service experience ever.
@ami  Good move sharing your exemplary service experience with others in this forum.  I too have had positive experience with PS Audio standing behind their products.  I have found a strong correlation between the behavior and attitudes of leaders...
Conrad Johnson--Best used Model
@frozentundra Did you listen to the cj gear through Treos or Treo CT?  I ask because the tweeter in the regular Treo is said by many to be brighter than the carbon tweeter in the CT model.
Retired audiophile?
Yes...if you can locate a good technician within a reasonable distance from you, you should be in good shape.
Retired audiophile?
I've been retired just over a year and do not make frivolous system changes (audiophile nervosa?)  My latest purchase, a significant speaker upgrade, made all of the pieces fall into place for me.  I've done the cables the tweaks, footers, mass da...
How did you choose your equipment?
I buy based in part on the manufacturer's long-term offerings and the sound the preponderance of reviewers/owners ascribe to that manufacturer's equipment.  In two notable cases, when finances permitted, I had modifications made to maximize the or...
