Why the lack of Virtual System postings?
@halcro WOW!  Your system pics are overwhelming. What do you do with all of those cartridges??  Hey...don't take this as slam in any way, I just find all of that gear remarkable.  When I read your original post, my first thought was Who is going t...
Vandersteen Treo vs 3A Sig as upgrade
@ig316b I just looked at your virtual system.  You have a very well thought-out rig with high quality gear.  Seeing your system, if you do decide to move to the Treo CT, with Three! 2wq in your expansive space, you will be able to realize the high...
Marantz SA 8005 break in
I preordered my SA-8005 so I have had it in my system since its release.  One of the reasons I bought the layer was the Marantz reputation for "musical" components.  Read... smooth treble, soundstage at speaker plane and behind with great detail, ...
Finally stepping into the hobby after 30 years of watching from the sidelines
@cottguy Well, if nothing else you have discovered that audiophiles these days are passionate about our hobby and take the advice we give here seriously. In the ever increasingly important internet marketplace, user reviews can be very helpful. Co...

I haven't had the pleasure of hearing either of Backert Labs new preamps but I am  familiar with the Backert's and what they look for in sound.  If you are looking for something to ameliorate upper midrange prominence I would look to cj.  The Back...

Turntable distorition
Agree with sending the rig back to AA in this case since you have had it such a short time.  At this point they are still responsible for the purchase to be right.
help me with this.............
There could be an issue with the pv 12 selector switch that you use to go from tuner to CD, then back to tuner.  It could just need its contacts cleaned or if it has been used a lot over years, the selector contact could have developed a flat spot...

Turntable sibilance
If you know of a turntable/cartridge set-up specialist (has quality diagnostic equipment/experience) in your area, I would get in touch with him/her.  I purchased a new Dynavector moving coil cart. to replace my worn copy and did so from a guy who...
The demise of the music CD inevitable?
I suspect CD will be with us for a long time.  The format has been around for about 35 years and have, over that time, achieved such market penetration with "gazillions" of them in circulation world-wide that the silver devils and the machines tha...
Is it idiotic to stack an amp and tuner directly on top of a CD player?
Never stack components. Period. What you could do since you want to utilize a particular piece of furniture, is place Herbie Audio Labs "Big Tall Tenderfeet" between each stacked piece. This would give each component in the stack some breathing ro...
