How do I free up a stuck volume control? Make sure the knob is not pushed up against the faceplate.
How do I free up a stuck volume control? Is this a motorized volume control????
Blown Classe CAP-80 I totally agree. Both JFet diff amps should be replaced in both channels.
6550 Tube Blew - A Few Questions Invest in a DVM (digital volt meter) That way you can measure resistors when you need to. Be advised, sometimes there are no bleeder resistors in the power supply. In this case the power supply likes to hang on to its high voltage. If you are in L...
Replacing 6550s with KT 88s Just so everyone knows, the Winged C factory burned down. At least that's what I was told. ARC now uses 6550WE
Music Reference RM 9 Question So....if all the tubes were installed at the same time, and you have exceeded the tube life based on what Roger says is the maximum hourly tube life of the output tubes in his amp, replace them all. Replace them all even if you are close to it. It...
McCormack REV B upgrades. Better than a new amp? Steve is a great guy. I'm happy to say I have known him for decades.
6550 replacements for upgraded CD7 Since the 5881 is a pass element in a regulated power supply, I doubt changing it would offer much sonic improvement. You can always try an NOS, but it must fit properly and allow for proper ventilation, or problems may arise.
Bob Carver LLC Black Beauty Review I saw his amp's at CES, and I'm curious as to whether there's a sonic difference between his attenuators set at half volume vs. wide open, ie. resistive element out of the circuit. At one time ARC had a few attenuators on their stereo D115mkII amp...
McCormack REV B upgrades. Better than a new amp? I have updated a number of DNA-1's and it's a much improved amp afterwards. The whole mother board gets replaced and it's a good idea to do it. The new board is simplified. The original had some circuit board issues over time. I'm also a big fan o...
6550 replacements for upgraded CD7 I think he's going to tell you not to use a 6550 because it's supposed to be a 5881/6L6. That tube is used as a pass element in a voltage regulator circuit and should not be changed. @Bifwinne I believe the update was replacing 2 6H30's with one 5...
Upscale Audio -- Tubes and Reliability It should say in your owners manual. I think 10K is a bit high. Possibly 6-7K?
Who can fix Supratek preamp??? Please email me. gary.mf1@gmail.com
Upscale Audio -- Tubes and Reliability In addition, the front end tubes (6922) should be replaced every other time the output tubes are replaced. Set up after new tubes are installed is a royal pain and the tubes MUST come from ARC in order to set the front end up properly for lowest d...
Upscale Audio -- Tubes and Reliability Bifwynne. Well obviously being someone who services ARC under warranty I'm a bit biased. Did I just say that? There are quite a few ARC amps that I don't recommend people re-tube and bias unless the bias voltage points are outside the amp away fro... |
