Amp with a mind of it's own... I suggest you contact the manufacturer
NOS KT 88s or GE 6550s They were not branded GE. They looked identical but they obviously got the recipe wrong. I think they scrapped the idea. I think the reason no one is making tubes in the U.S. is more about osha and the nasty chemicals that are used in the process ...
NOS KT 88s or GE 6550s For a few years Richardson was making 6550's using GE's tube machines that they had purchased. Tube looked the same but that's where the comparison ended. They were miserable.
Best Speaker Impedence for Tube Amplifiers It's really trial and error. What sounds better to you. For example, in some older Audio Research Amps, the 4 ohm tap can actually sound better with a 6 ohm dynamic speaker. With dynamic speakers it's all about current delivery controlling the woo...
conrad johnson mf-2300a heat You can also contact C/J and ask Ed. I believe that amp uses FET output devices which tend to be biased higher and therefore run hotter. If you can't keep your hand on the heat sinks it may be biased a bit too high.
NOS KT 88s or GE 6550s I have heard them in an Audio Research D-76A as well as a D-79. They sound great but the newer versions of that tube are just not very reliable.
Anyone compared 6922 Sovtek & Electro-Harmonix I wish the JJ E88CC was a better tube. Also unreliable and they become noisy in short order.
Vintage Crown D 150A II Amp -- How good was it? BTW I believe the original model designation was a DC150A.
Vintage Crown D 150A II Amp -- How good was it? Well...the Crown was a very reliable amp that had the dubious distinction of being the first solid state amp to use an i.c for the input. It was considered a workhorse. Compared to today's solid state amps it's not very good. Semiconductors have c...
NOS KT 88s or GE 6550s I don't know what all the fascination is about with the GE 6550's. I always remember them to be just okay and had issues with them in Dynaco Mklll's so i never used them. Later versions of the tube had major issues with high plate voltages or high...
Harman Kardon Pre amps Agree with Atmasphere. But they also tended to become rust buckets....Not easy to find a clean one and most if all of the stock electrolytic caps need to be replaced.
NOS KT 88s or GE 6550s Well, it make take a few years before damage happens. This of course depends how over built the heater winding of the transformer is. Obviously 4 KT-120's would be less of a burden than 8 etc.
NOS KT 88s or GE 6550s Contact Ed at C/J and find out if you can put KT-120's in that amp.
Amp blowing fuses was it in the filament supply????
Harmon Kardon citaion 1 kit telefuken You would certainly have to reform all the electrolytic filter caps and hopefully they are still good. Given the age I would doubt it, as they dry out with age. All I remember about it was the circuit was very novel for it's day. The output transf... |
