MoFi Turntables
What slaw said +1MD owns the MoFi brand, so don't feel the least bit guilty about taking advantage of their trial period.
Review: Fritz Carrera BE speakers
Interesting post. I've been intrigued by Fritz speakers. Almost pulled the trigger on some Carbon 7s at one point. What OB speakers did you have?
Cabling questions
Option 5: You can strip enough insulation off your cables to allow bridging the posts with a continuous length of wire, thereby eliminating separate jumpers altogether, and the additional lossy connection points you'd have with them. This makes fo...
Best Loudspeakers for Rich Timbre?
There are several things about the Magnepan x.7 series that supersede all the dogma about previous maggies--grainy, lack of low level detail, hard to drive, etcThat describes just a few of the reasons I unloaded my 1.7is, however, I'll admit they'...
Best Loudspeakers for Rich Timbre?
Spendor and Graham.
narrow and wide baffles and imaging
So, what gives? I’m forced to conclude that modern designs, 95% of which espouse the narrow baffle, are driven by aesthetic/cosmetic considerations, rather than acoustical ones, and the baffle~imaging canard is just an ex post facto justification....
Hard to sell my Klipsch Heritage Speakers for a possible Harbeth upgrade.
+1 for checking out the revived Tannoy Legacy models.
Have DAC’s improved for Redbook CD playback?
Considering all the praise for new DACs that are NOS and using old chips like the TDA 1543?
Hard to sell my Klipsch Heritage Speakers for a possible Harbeth upgrade.
Ah, the Harbeth Kool Aid strikes again. I can’t say I didn’t drink it at one point. It’s hard to ignore the devout following of the Harbeth cult. Unless you find your Cornwalls and Chorus’ to be "hard" or fatiguing, IMO, the Harbs (somewhat depend...
Which material sounds better for speakers construction? Wood, Ply or MDF?
^says the guy with MDF speakers. Interesting.
Which material sounds better for speakers construction? Wood, Ply or MDF?
@dave_b Ok Helomech the great...protector of things absolute!  Within the normal standards of cabinet design, Totem makes their speakers far less susceptible to various environmental conditions.  Their crossovers are special by virtue of quality a...
Which material sounds better for speakers construction? Wood, Ply or MDF?
Vince at Totem makes cabinets impervious to environmental variations. Gotta love these sort of claims. No such cabinet exists, nor will it ever exist. Just as no driver is absolutely perfect, neither is any cabinet or crossover.
Which material sounds better for speakers construction? Wood, Ply or MDF?
The worst were the Wilson’s.  Magico’s were overly deadened to my ears.  Anyway, just saying I hear a dramatically improved sound with a well done wood speaker.  Harbeth uses this approach as well I believe. The founders of Harbeth and Spendor did ...
Best sounding "budget" integrated amp for Vandersteen 2C.
The A-S1000 will have a little more power on paper, but a lot more power in reality due to its much better/larger power supply. It’s a 50lb beast.
Harbeth 30.1 ? The Ultimate Speaker under $5K ?
@murphythecat Interesting, in 2017 you bought unheard harbeth c7es3. was it because there was no dealer around? Did you really only heard the C7es3 model, yet go on and on talking about harbeth but only heard the C7es3 and rely on Youtube videos? ...
