Ahhh--Problem solved. Adding a REL sub-bass unit... Yup, a well-integrated sub (or two) can do that. The key word is integration. I think many fail at integration because they have their sub(s) crossed over too high and with far too much gain.
Integrated amplifier search I’m willing to go up in price. My wife has tolerated my audio habit long enough and I don’t listen critically nearly as much as I use to, so going down in size is no problem for me. The Sony has intrigued me for a while. I don’t remember if it ...
Integrated amplifier search There’s really nothing out there that packs equal power and features in a smaller footprint, especially for the price of the Halo. Parasound keeps pulling rabbits out of the hat when it comes to value/$. Just look at their new $599 phono stage. Wh...
Topping Dacs D-50, DX-7, and DX7s I use the old Topping D20 in one of my systems - a great DAC for PCM duties. I'd pit it against any oversampling, filtered DAC.
Speakers with the most detailed midrange? (non-ESL/planar) @prof I can't speak for all their speakers, but the Bliss Silvers I own are very neutral. I've compared them back to back with my Spendors and the JMRs were only a tad more forward. They're certainly not anymore forward or bright than ATC or Harbe...
Speakers with the most detailed midrange? (non-ESL/planar) Jean Marie Reynauds also have an excellent, neutral and detailed midrange without the all-to-common fatiguing excess in the upper mids.
Speakers with the most detailed midrange? (non-ESL/planar) Stirling Broadcast LS3/6 - reference level midrange by any standard. Doesn't get any better and they're only $5500/pair.
How important is it for you to attain a holographic image? Apparently it's not very important for most, judging by how many jam their speakers right up against walls and/or large windows.
A very good ENGINEERING explanation of why analog can not be as good as digital.. Play a good recording on an SME 30/2, fitted with a Koetsu Rhodonite cartridge. Then play the digital version of the same recording using the highest rated DACs and tell me analog isn't superior. Yeah... Insert LMAO emoji here>
Affordable integrated pure class A? You could build a couple of these and pair them with a small preamp:https://diyaudiostore.com/products/amp-camp-amp-kit?variant=7072933085218 Otherwise, consider the Sony TA-A1ES. It's more of a quasi-class A, but still gives the class A sound - v...
Can this be good first tube amplifier? Tube rectification is not necessary to achieve the lush bloom and liquid midrange of tubes. Such claims are based on nothing but myth and conjecture.
Can this be good first tube amplifier? Try also Stabilant -22 Contact enhancerStabilant 22 is garbage. Can’t tell you how many electrical failures I’ve seen as a result of that junk - too many.As for your barely coherent rant, not all expensive caps are good caps. There’s more to perfo...
High efficiency is critical. For that budget range, look at speakers from Decware, Omega, and Zu Audio. If your Heresys are first gen, you could upgrade to the IIIs, then take them a bit further with outboard crossovers from ALK.
help decide what av receiver under $1k to choose Best bet is to seek advice on AVSforums.
Anyone with experience with the effectiveness of the AVA HUMDINGER? I tried the Humdinger to eliminate Rogue transformer hum, and it didn't do a thing. The unit is extremely well made, and I have no doubt it does exactly what they say it does, only what it was eliminating was not causing my hum. AVA were very ea... |
