Anyone with tinnitus or hearing loss who is into "high-end" audio? Interesting about the vitamin D. I just started taking it for this COVID stuff. Maybe it will help my tinnitus. Most Americans are Vitamin D "insufficient" I've been told. My doctor said I was "dangerously low" following my annual blood panel. It m...
Anyone with tinnitus or hearing loss who is into "high-end" audio? I had minor tinnitus and it went away completely after I began taking vitamin D supplements. It could be coincidence but nothing else regarding my health routine was altered.Best of luck.
My Demo results: I feel like I'm at a frustrating block in my speaker journey Seems you’re looking for the perfect tower speaker at ~$3K/pair. That’s a very tall order. Most towers in this price range are mediocre, and as you’re discovering, have significant shortcomings in either the treble or bass. Better to find a pre-ow...
My Demo results: I feel like I'm at a frustrating block in my speaker journey If the Tannoy XT6Fs sounded dark in your system, I suggest looking into a different amp. These are anything but dark.
Need help replacing my beloved Magnepan.... Many box-type speakers are capable of similar transparency, and many more are capable of better resolution. I love Maggies for what they do well. Yes, they sound boxless but they’re lacking in resolution. For your budget, a pre-owned pair of Audio...
Lifespan of amps and preamps? I've encountered many 40 to 50-year-old electrolytic caps that test within spec and perform their intended function. Any half-way decent cap will last 20+ years if the associated circuit and its heat dissipation are competent. People like to belie...
New Yamaha integrated amps Why would anyone buy a Yamaha amp when you can purchase a Parasound integrated. I wonder why manufacturers promote watts when the real spec should be current? Watts are a bigger number.I switched from the original Parasound Halo Integrated to an...
New Yamaha integrated amps I'm not convinced the move to toroidal transformers is a good one. The best attribute of the current crop of Yamaha integrateds is the bass extension. It's my suspicion that some of that is attributable to the EI transformers. Of all the amps I've...
Hunt for new floor standers Holy Shelter-in-Place! It's been a while since I've checked this thread. I thought I'd add some info on what I've been looking at these past few weeks. Any thoughts on the Monitor Audio Silver 500's? These are in their 6G and consistently get grea...
Mytek Liberty vs Chord Qutest Save $1100 and get a Pro-Ject Pre Box S2 Digital. I bought the Qutest as an intended upgrade but it doesn't sound any better than the Pro-Ject.
Is the 2.5 way speaker the ideal home speaker? @helomechThat's interesting, usually three way speakers are considered ideal due to the midrange covering the entire human voice and much of the piano without the crossover involved. I wonder if your hearing more bass boominess from 3 way designs?...
Is the 2.5 way speaker the ideal home speaker? I'm not sure I follow, @helomech - Usually higher tweeter points are achieved with 3-way systems which use a "true" midrange. It's just my experience that 3-ways often lack the transparency of a good 2-way, I can only guess it's due to the additio...
Is the 2.5 way speaker the ideal home speaker? A 3-way design should preferable, at least in theory, but it requires an additional type of driver and a more complex crossover network, and both of those increase the cost.and often degrades transparency.
Preamp and Amp how much influence each contributes? Its impossible for separates to match the performance of a really good integrated amp without spending a whole lot more money. This is because of the simple fact the two components require an extra power cord and interconnect. Completely incorrect.
Looking for a hybrid integrated to do it all! The MOSFET Yamahas sound more like a real tube amp than most hybrids -- tube sound with none of the drawbacks. |
