Looking for a ‘’No braine’r Integrated amplifier under 7500 or so
I really liked a Bryston integrated (with a dac) when I heard it at a dealer. I think it was a B135 cubed. A bit above your price range but maybe you can find one used. They often have 20 years of warranty. Or think of the price as for a dac and a...
Gave up my SET----looking for moderate to higher power replacement options
I have a Sciit Ragnarok which I like a lot. It is probably class AB and I have not compared it to many others. Around $1.7k.
Upgrading from Thiel 2.7 to Sonus Faber or Focal???
I had some time at a dealer last year and listened to Orangutan O/93. They were really good! Outside of my current price range but may work for you. There is also a larger O/96.I also like Boenicke speakers. The W8 or W11 might be worth considerin...
Some DACs I am Considering-Any thoughts?
If you are ok with non r2r dacs I would add Okto Dac 8 Stereo to the list. Price around $1.3k depending on options. This is only based on reviews but it seems to be a very well made dac that also measures better than almost any other.
Killer used integrated for
+1 on Rega Brio. I just sold one on another marketplace. Also, killer is not the word I would use for any of these.
Suggestions for New CD Player
Have you thought about the new streamers with built-in cd-rippers?You place a cd in it and wait a bit then you can listen to that music whenever you want without putting it in the player.Like Cocktail Audio CA-X500. There are a couple of others al...
Remarkably better sound possible with just 1 system component change?
I also think the speakers matters the most and that the room is important. Maybe aim for the Sopra 3?You can also try to add a new dac and only use the Lumin as a streamer. The Okto Dac8 got a great review in the latest Stereophile.
Digital Front end for Dummies
If you are somewhat technical you can start with a Raspberry Pi and a dac. The Pi only costs around $100 leaving you more for the dac. There is also a Volumio Primo that is ready made and the same price as the Node. And one called Orchard which can...
Better Integrated Amp?
I have a Rega Brio which is 70w. I would go that route unless you are sure you will find very sensitive speakers. It gives you much more choice speaker wise.Mine is for sale but it's in Sweden and not worth shipping. You can probably find many sim...
If you stream music from the internet, I can't recommend this more highly
@feliks you can try to add a filter between the computer and the dac instead. It might be better than the Node 2i. In general computers are "noicy" and generates a lot of overlay on the electrical signals. All streamers are computers but they are ...
Best integrated for my needs????
Another choice is to get an amp with dac built-in. Then you only need to add a streamer and a pair of speakers. I've heard a Bryston B135 cubed with a dac card connected to Orangutan O/93 speakers and really liked it. Hegel 590 also has a dac.Or g...
Best integrated for my needs????
$10k for the amp sounds a bit much. I would probably aim for a $6k amp with a $4k source and $10k speakers. I know some audiophiles just split it even. In your case it may be $7k each for a $21 k total budget. Good luck with whatever you do!
Does Anyone Think CD is Better Than Vinyl/Analog?
I think it is interesting that digital still gets better. See the January issue of TAS where they review a Wadax dac and the reviewer says it is the best digital he has ever heard. I just hope they can get some of that quality down to "normal" pri...
Speaker upgrade for classical music
If you like Tannoy you should try to listen to Fyne also. A lot of old Tannoy people are working there. F702, for example.
Speaker upgrade for classical music
Some more recommendations. May be good to have a few options. Audio Solutions Figaro M speakers. Sounded really great at a show and has great reviews. http://hifiknights.com/reviews/speakers/audiosolutions-figaro-m-loudspeakers/Could combine with ...
