Putting your components inbetween your speakers. @noromance: Kinda a late post to your question, but from my experience and all I’ve read, you want your speakers, depending on what type, to be placed far from the side and rear walls and your listening position to be far enough from the back wall...
Why am I hearing this? @widespreadpanic: Did the above advice fix your problem. Kinda a late response. I have no tuner connected to my system, but at one point, I was hearing a Latino radio station seep through, when using my TT with tonearm at rest. I was actually ...
Is there actually a difference? +1 Mickeyb
Small or large sub for music When I first purchased my Wilson Max II’s and was talking about adding a new sub, someone on this forum laughed asking why I would even want a sub, using the Wilsons. I purchased one JL Fathom 113 and it was great. I then added a second one, pla...
Does hearing the best in high end audio make your opinions more valid? Orpheus10: As I have stated before, I find myself looking for and listening to music that’s very dynamic, or at least, very well produced. Of course I have to like the music content, but want something that makes my system show it’s stuff. So much...
Theta Cassablanca 3 setup related question and request for input @gbabu5y:BTW, I will give you a good price on my CB3, if you want it. It has the video board, which is pretty cool, to monitor your settings on your video screen.
Aesthetic preamp @O_holter: I have yet to connect my calypso, using the main outputs for my subs. Just never think of it, until I’m listening, then too caught up in the moment and the drink. Coming out of my tape monitor, I use an adaptor from rca to xlr, then go ...
What makes tape sound better than vinyl ? I can’t remember who posted about the 1/2 track, but I agree. What made it so good was running at high speeds and the width of the tape, made for the best reproduced sound I’ve ever heard. There simply isn’t enough room on a cassette tape and th...
Watts are watts? IMO, there’s no substitute for class A bias output, whether it be tubes or SS. Think of a class b amp as a dragster idling at the start line and a class a biased amp reved up to 8K rpm. The flag drops. The idling car driver, then puts the throttl...
Aesthetic preamp @atmasphere I may have not been specific about the subs. I keep the frequency roll off the same, I just adjust the gain. I don’t have to adjust the volume that often, but can’t imagine not having complete control of the volume.
Aesthetic preamp @atmasphere : That is correct. I find older LP’s or cds that were not produced well, need different amounts of sub volume. I have my two JL Fathom113’s connected to a separate preamp, so I can adjust the gain, if need be. I read a blog today, tha...
Aesthetic preamp @elf1: I have the Calypso Signature and find it to be everything I need as far as the connectors go, (almost) as well as the sound. It, as others do, it has a muting circuit, which puts it into standby mode as soon as it’s powered up. The only t...
Jl audio fathom f212v2 noise and hum @esthlos13: I have a pair of Fathom 113’s. I connected them as master/slave, as well as independently and have not experienced and thumping noise. When I turn on my Sony E2000ESD I use as a remote control for independent volume, I hear a very sof...
Mono block or bi-amp IMO, it’s hard to properly bi-amp any speaker. You pretty much need an active crossover to get the proper power distribution.
Nature of Koetsu carts @rpm33: I have a Urushi Black and I love it. The warning I will give, is your tonearm has to have sufficient mass, for the Koetsu’s to properly perform. When I first mounted mine, it sounded very hollow. At the suggestion of Koetsu, I increased... |
