New Delos cart Thanks for your input. I had hoped after the break-in period, the sound would smooth out a little. I wish there was a way to expedite the break-in period, but I think it will just take time. It's not an offensive sound-just crisp.
Lyra Skala Thanks for your responses. I just ordered my Delos along with a VPI Scoutmaster II with the JMW 9S arm. It's somewhere to start and it may be my last TT. Yeah-right.
Proper Mass Of Tonearm for MC Cart Yes-you are correct. I kinda went off on a tangent. I was inquiring about tonearm mass, but thought I would ask for recommendations of a TT/Cart combo. I had always thought you find a TT you like and a cartridge you can afford. I was ignorant in k...
Compatability of Koetsu Black Urishi with ARC PH-7 Thanks for your response. The 30 ohm figure was pulled off of the specs for the Urishi. I have spoken to several that said 100-200 ohms would be fine.
Is a vinyl rig only worth it for oldies? It took me a long time to "give-in" to going back to vinyl. I had to circumvent my acoustical feedback/rumble problem. I have a suspended floor and it took a while to figure that one out. Clearaudio's top of the line would be grand, but alas, I wi...
Bose Accumass EQ Bose said the module wasn't available by itself through them, but I found one locally. I realize Bose makes most people cringe, but for my office, they're fine. I bought a Klipcsh SW 112 to go with them.I am speaker poor, but needed something real...
CONUNDRUM I tried both GOLDENJACKS and ROTHWELL attentutors. Both do the job they have been assigned, however I did notice a slight difference in the clarity of the sound. Having spent money to achieve more clarity, this was obviously not a viable solution....
CONUNDRUM I think I may go with a Koetsu Urushi MC cart. Any comments?
CONUNDRUM I have a rather low end table-Clearaudio Emotion with stock arm. I heard the Concerto cart is good @ reproduction, while not emphasizing surface noise. I really need suggestions on the cartridge. You say the Koetsu?
Can the output of an ARC PH-7 be turned down? I was thinking and the 5751 tubes will reduce my output, but not my input (I think ). I think I will try to get a couple of -10db attentuators from Rothwell as suggested by "Mofi." To be fair, he did suggest a lower output cart over the attentuators.
Can the output of an ARC PH-7 be turned down? Thanks to all for your input. ARC has a gain reduction kit I can get, but they discouraged it due to signal degradation. I saw where MCM electronics has line attentuators, but I would have to use an RCA to XLR adator on my interconnects from my PH...
Tubed Linestage I wrote my last comment before reading responses to my other thread. The Aesthetix Calypso seems to get a lot of recommendations and has "glowing" (pun intended) reviews. Looks like I'm in the market for a Calypso.
Tubed Linestage I appreciate all of your responses. The subject (krells don't match with ARC) came from a comment from a fellow audiogoner. It appears they have been out voted. One thing I have noted when reading reviews of the most recent ARC preamps, 17, 26 &am...
Tubed Linestage My ARC PH-3SE is a phono stage only. It has to have a linestage preamp. I don't know if the ARC & Krell are a mis-match, just saying that's what I read in a blog here on Audiogon. My thread was a question-not a statement. Has anyone heard of a...
ARC PH 3 SE vs PH 7 Thanks for your replies-the are unanimous. I don't have the bucks to upgrade at this time, but now know what to aspire to. |
