CONUNDRUM I have a rather low end table-Clearaudio Emotion with stock arm. I heard the Concerto cart is good @ reproduction, while not emphasizing surface noise. I really need suggestions on the cartridge. You say the Koetsu?
Can the output of an ARC PH-7 be turned down? I was thinking and the 5751 tubes will reduce my output, but not my input (I think ). I think I will try to get a couple of -10db attentuators from Rothwell as suggested by "Mofi." To be fair, he did suggest a lower output cart over the attentuators.
Can the output of an ARC PH-7 be turned down? Thanks to all for your input. ARC has a gain reduction kit I can get, but they discouraged it due to signal degradation. I saw where MCM electronics has line attentuators, but I would have to use an RCA to XLR adator on my interconnects from my PH...
Tubed Linestage I wrote my last comment before reading responses to my other thread. The Aesthetix Calypso seems to get a lot of recommendations and has "glowing" (pun intended) reviews. Looks like I'm in the market for a Calypso.
Tubed Linestage I appreciate all of your responses. The subject (krells don't match with ARC) came from a comment from a fellow audiogoner. It appears they have been out voted. One thing I have noted when reading reviews of the most recent ARC preamps, 17, 26 &am...
Tubed Linestage My ARC PH-3SE is a phono stage only. It has to have a linestage preamp. I don't know if the ARC & Krell are a mis-match, just saying that's what I read in a blog here on Audiogon. My thread was a question-not a statement. Has anyone heard of a...
ARC PH 3 SE vs PH 7 Thanks for your replies-the are unanimous. I don't have the bucks to upgrade at this time, but now know what to aspire to.
MM Cartridge or MC Cartridge I guess I will get the Maestro re-tipped and use my old Shure V15 III until I get it back. I recently bought a Clearaudio Emotion TT and switch back and forth between the old PL-71 and the Emotion. The Maestro cart sounds much better than my old S...
Proper rating of used albums I "won" an auction where I purchased 38 albums. All albums were over rated. I contacted the seller by e-mail, but he refused to give me a refund saying that I should have asked more questions before buying. As I said, they were rated on the Goldmi...
No More TT Feedback Thanks for the "Moon Gel" suggestion. I've looked EVERYWHERE for something like that. I purchased a Clearaudio Emotion TT yesterday, but think I'm going to sell it. I'm enjoying my vinyl, but not "shure" I'm into it that much. It has a brand new M...
How to eliminate TT feedback/vibration I will try to get a pic of my set-up on line. I actually improved my problem by spiking my TT on a piece of MDF and put the MDF on some foam rubber. I can now increase my volume several db without any feedback and the spikes are responsible. What ...
Subwoofer to go with Wilson Maxx II's The Wilson's go down to 20hz with smooth response. I've actually had people think I was using a sub when I wasn't. Best speaker I've ever heard. But believe me, there are times I may not "need" a sub, but want one and appreciate one. I had a Bag E...
Audio Experience A2E Sorry to hear about your preamp. I've heard pro & con. Good luck on getting it going. Most of my gear is solid state. Did get a Belarri VP 130 as a cheap phono stage. I'm not in to vinyl much, so that's good enough for me at this time. Some st...
Record-playing Rituals? This was asked - and answered. To much '60's.
Record-playing Rituals? To all you vinyl purists out there-tell me what I'm doing wrong. First I must tell you, 25 years ago, I would buy an album-off the "rack", then I would record it to a good quality cassette. I did this with the idea I could play the cassette as lou... |
