Proper Room Acoustics/Designs
I must have not done a very good job of describing the room. There won't be any drywall-at all. 2 x 12's on all 6 walls, floor, etc. Sound diffusers and bass traps will be incorporated in the walls where ever is needed. The bass traps are like Hem...
Proper Room Designs/Dimensions for Best Acoutics
I live close to Nashville and my dealer also has a great listening room. They have a couple of panels on the walls, with a trayed ceiling and some corners that are 45 degree angles, instead of 90's. I have heard Wilson speakers, with Martin Logan'...
Proper Room Acoustics/Designs
I will take a look at Earl Geddes book. The reason Dennis wants the 2 x 12's all over, is so no additional acoustic panels are needed. I guess I need to post a picture of my current room. It has around 20-25 sound absorption panels on walls and ce...

Actually 1:1.6:2.33, but those can vary, depending on the size of your low frequency drivers. He advocates building a room inside a room, with all 6 parameters to be 12 inches deep (front, back, sides, floor and ceiling). He then builds Carbon fil...
Solid state phono/linestage vs Tubes
Thanks for all those who took the time to respond. I think I may have over exaggerated my tube rush noise. It's really quite low, but still wondered about quality solid state preamps. I've yet to connect my Rhea to my Theta, but may do so today(to...
getting back to vinly
I think that is spelled Vinyl?
Krell Evolution 400e
Thanks for responding. I will certainly entertain the idea of picking up a set of these. I have been missing my old KMA 160's-anxious to get a similar sound back in the house. I emailed Krell on two different occasions-to no avail.
Record-playing Rituals?
I purchased a Spinclean and later a VPI 16.5. I'm using my Zerostat, TT's are grounded and everything is great. A couple of better cartridges also added to my listening pleasure.
Best Class A amp with SLAM
I will agree-the Pass Labs are more musical, but I don't think they're as quick as the Krells. I may seek out another set of the KMA series and have them re-built. When you open up the KMA amps, they're built like a tank. I think you could literal...
Best Class A amp with SLAM
Maybe I should have kept them and had them recapped. They were almost 25 years old and it was time for a change. As far as speakers go, I have Wilson Maxx II's and am amazed each and everytime I listen to them. As far as amps go, the Pass Labs are...
Best Class A amp with SLAM
I actually have the XA100.5's. They're really good, but seem to not have that slam the Krells had. Perhaps I'm remembering them better than they were.
Isolation Platform for my Sota Cosmos?
I had a serious vibration and acoustical problem, because my TT platform rested on a suspended floor (i.e.-not concrete, but joists) I tried mounting a platform on the wall, but still had problems. I finally suspended my table platform out from th...
Rhea Signature vs. ARC PH-7
Concerning my comment about there not being any competent analog dealers in Nashville, if you're out there, please make your presence known. I should have said I know of none.
Rhea Signature vs. ARC PH-7
Your comments are very interesting. Back in the day, I was told the cartridge WAS the most important component before the (what was then) receiver. If the cartridge is not top notch, how can it reproduce better sound? I mean the cart is where it a...
Rhea Signature vs. ARC PH-7
Jmcgrogan2Thanks for taking the time to respond. I think there were 90 views, but you are the only one who took the time to answer. I'm relatively new to analog. I played albums back in the 70's and 80's, but defected to CD's around 1987. It took ...
