Biamp N802:is 55W tube enough for high/mids?
As Arthur notes, you should be able to do it. OTOH, 350Hz places you smack bang in the middle of the voices range, so most of yr tenors will come out of the "bass" amp and most of yr sopranos fm the triode (likewise with cellos and violins):)Just ...
Vienna Mozart or Dali Helicon 400 with YBA
A Bechstein grand -- that's a wow:)BTW, you might want to give Verity speakers a thought. They're quite good at voice and (to a lesser extent) piano. But you do get the feel of what you;re listening to -- i.e. a Steinway, a Yamaha, etc...
Vienna Mozart or Dali Helicon 400 with YBA
For piano, either the Mozart or even, a medium-level model fm Verity could fit the bill.In any event, how do you describe Dali speakers vis-a-vis ViennaNot Dali in general, but their small speakers vs the bigger Vienna and since you listen to pian...

I need help on directionality of speaker cables
Carl:My post wasn't meant to sound arrogant, it was more about the apparent muddling of AC and DC in some postsI got it, I think. You must have read s/where that AC is converted to dc in the power supplies... However, the electrical signal the dev...
I need help on directionality of speaker cables
Carl -- what on earth are you saying? Surely not that there's dc output from yr source I hope -- you risk blowing yr amp.You must mean s/thing else.BTW, the mains does have phase, neutral & ground. It also has a frequency, remember -- 50 or 60Hz.
Musicality vs Transparency & Detail
As I work to develop my audio system I wonder if the goal of extreme detail retrieval will sacrifice musicality.IMO this is the wrong way to pursue satisfactory reproduction of music. You must start by focusing on what you believe YOUR sonic ideal ...
Levinson 33H vs Boulder 1060/2060??
While Jaybo is referring to the elusive "X factor" some amps circuits seem to have (1 of these, the 33H), another less elusive and equally as important factor is the speaker you'll be using...Look at it this way: you can choose the speaker first &...
Acapella vs. Avantgarde
Greg, why is mono-amping the most ruinous solutionI misunderstood this to mean, use MONO blocs all around... sorry!I would agree however that passively biamping is expensive and only sometimes beneficial -- biwiring likewise. As you imply, it's be...
Should a good system sound bad with bad recording?
is it possible that many of us ...want a stereo system to sound as close as possible to the correct instrumental timbre--as we remember it, regardless of accuracy considerationsMaybe, ultimately -- but from a hi-end consumer's point of view -- pro...
Acapella vs. Avantgarde
Hi AmfiHe told me that the best result was always obtained by mono-amping,Yup, well, that's also the most ruinous solution. ...and has something to do with the design of the Acapella crossoverNow that, I find difficult to understand. The xover dis...
Wilson Alexandria X2s in small room
If you blew both sides then maybe the wrong amps for the speakerWrong amp would have most likely blown the tweets... not the lower mids.
Question concerning db sensitivity
There is one small point that one can generalise on: the higher the sensitivity, the more uncompressed dynamic range you can have (note: you "CAN" have. You might not have in practise). How it sounds, is another matter.
Zero feedback and class A,which is better?
My Aerius speakers, (...) can dip down to 1.6 ohmsGiven that, you need an extremely well stabilised amplifier circuit to drive those speakers. Some map manufacturers do spec how difficult a load their product is designed to take -- so go with that...
