To tone control or not to tone control Hi Artemus, wish I could help more. As Dekay, I never used this in my system. Sonically, the mid-range darkened only by a tad, the bass was boosted and the highs became more pronounced and a bit harder -- but at least, one got a simulation of high...
Musicality" in a system? What IS that ? Happy Easter, Detlof and others!
So much Bach, where do I start? Frank, thank you for suggestions above. I second Pinnock, Leonhardt, Brendel, and Richter; will check out Walcha, Alain (I've been looking for a "convincing" Chorals version for some time now). May I also suggest Orchestral Works / Munchinger / De...
Absolutely Amazing Absolute Power Cords Audiofrk, I didn't get yr point. Are U making one? Which company? Last time I checked (3 hrs ago) I was still a recruiter (of people, not cables / cords or otherwise metallic conductors).
So much Bach, where do I start? For Vivaldi orchestral try the Musici version with C. Scimone on Philips Classics, vols 1&2, and enjoy!
Most achingly-beautiful music Forgot it was 3. Brahms, 1st piano concerto, 1st movement, Curzon. Bach, Mass in B minor.Regards
Most achingly-beautiful music Mahler, "Song of the Earth" K. Ferrier/B Walter, the Farewell. Not recommended for suicidal tendencies. Kathleen sang Ewig (farewell) a few months before she died -- and she knew her condition.
problems with musical fidelity A3cd Is this MF's tube package? If so, you're lucky. A friend of mine had that -- it resigned from service 1 month down the line (purchased new).Good luck with repairs!
Which Tube integrated for Virgo? Have auditioned the Virgos with a short-list consisting of KR, Jadis (Reference -- see Trelja), and Pathos (the twin towers or something like that). The results were very good. IMHO, the KR came first, Jadis ref 2nd, Pathos a close 3rd. I audition...
Absolutely Amazing Absolute Power Cords Krjr, haven't heard the Absolute -- but am intrigued. Where can I find out more about these???Cheers
Musicality" in a system? What IS that ? Detlof & all other contributors, may I suggest we try digging a bit deeper, now that we seem to have completed the first round? We could test the descriptions mentioned above hands-on (ears-on), and see if we can't take this further. True, it ...
To REWIRE or LET BE: a speakers question Thanks everyone! Advice well heeded & needed! On a more personal note, thank you all for responding so fast and making me *feel*, yet again, part of a community...I'll post Gen Tech's answer to my question when I get it..Cheers!
Sweat spot? Sp. placementt again Hi Redkiwi, no I haven't -- just tried a higher chair. Will do so ASAP. BTW, don't you mean ..."I *can* see the problem."? She's the one complaining about "can't single out those cellos" or, "where are Hutchens' (INXS) feet on this track -- can se...
Speakers with built in sub any good? Artemus, don't think the Step will fill yr. room. I second Doug's suggestion (Thiels). In my experience, they need very careful positioning, otherwise U get too MUCH bass -- but yr room looks fine on screen for them. Also, Thiels are power guzzler...
Holographic Imaging- Cable suggestions? Adam, have U reviewed speaker placement after changing cables? Maybe that can help -- before U invest extra money. Re, cables: to the ones proposed above, I would add bearlabs -- very neutral sounding, no perceptible "colour" added to my system. |
