Amp for Eidolon again
Have heard thru the grapevine that Avalon DOES use Spectral to voice speakers -- so maybe DMA200 is a good choice (I heard the speakers w/ 360). BUT I didn't know that they retailed for $2k -- which makes them unbeatable.Another amp that spoke to ...

6: Is it Monday that's a new day -- or is each day a new beginning?(I often strive for the latter but hardly achieve the former.)
The Heat Is On
ALERT.!! PLS READ THIS!!! My post, re: treating rubber surrounds w/ armor-all or other product containing solvents. PLS DO NOT DO THIS!!! I just got feedback that this has caused premature ageing (rubbers losing elasticity & cracking). Many th...
Basic Repertoire or flogging a dead horse
Pbb: in my case, the tough part is yr request for "quality recording":) I usually go for the performance & hope for the sonic quality... which is rarely there, to be honest!Coming to yr pieces. The Antiqua Koln Orch. recording for Bach's Brand...
What the Hell Happened?
From yr description it's probably static build-up that was released when you touched the metal surface. IF it was the DAC as Gasman suggests, another trick is to press "pause" and back to "play" again. This resets the clock -- and may serve.

I too clean the speaker cabinets w/ saddle soap (OK, ok, stop laughing). Then I treat the wood with a non-beeswax base furniture product. I also treat the foams/rubbers around the cones with a silicon-based product (armor-all, etc). I treat the co...
high-end vs. ultra high-end amplifiers
Brian, thanks for your kind message. In fact, I just didn't want to sound adamant & use the word "obviously". Cheers!

Do the oxen ever end... unless we banish them from our presence (or is that "present").I think the road to Damascus is longer. I wonder if it's worth it.
high-end vs. ultra high-end amplifiers
I think Stehno joins my thinking... Philefreak: no, the companies you mention (bar Accuphase) ARE little -- probably becaue they choose to be so.Warrenh... give your excellent (IMO) machine & its manufacturer a break. Bernard-Andre did NOT pro...
Used Pass 600monos or Rowland 8TiHC?
I too, would probably opt for Pass over Rowland IN THIS APPLICATION. For other options... I saw a Symphonic Line Kraft 250 clas A on sale here some days ago for around yr budget. Excellent speed, attack, and natural timbres. 10kOhm input impedance...
What's a good amp to pair with SF Grd Piano Home
As you're looking for a good match for the 38, too, I would recommend ML334. Otherwise, I would propose a change in the pre: to these ears, the ML amp -- say the 334 -- outclasses the pre. You may wish to reconsider an integrated, though, if the i...
high-end vs. ultra high-end amplifiers
Positioning and cost are significant factors. Larger companies (ML, Krell, etc) cater to a large part of our small hi-end market and have to sell a minimum volume in order to break-even. Their positioning is "hi-end" but they have to keep market-s...
What's a good amp to pair with SF Grd Piano Home
Truth is, Hammer, many amps will drive these speakers so, it all boils down to what you're looking for! (Any tips? Music you listen to, rest of system, what you like sonically...?)Taking a shot in the dark while remembering these speakers' nice mi...

Detlof, I couldn't agree more. Indeed the only time Uncle "simulated" talk was in suggesting that a CAT + a Defy make a good combo. But even then, it was only to tell Maxgain he should NOT like his present system :)Oh well
MIT Love 'em or Hate 'em
I think something WAS proven here. Anger and a thinly disguised patronising, professoral, attitude is not conducive to communication. Asa, I think that krusty's annoyance came from his disbelief that any "ignoramus" posting would dare question his...
