Tube Amp, Preamp upgrades -- what did you do that improved your units? I would do what I said above with your preamp. Replace the Alps Blue pot with the same value TKD. The potentiometer has a sticker on the back that tells you if it’s 25k, 50k, 100k etc…. Nice step up in resolution and realism. More than replacing ...

Tube Amp, Preamp upgrades -- what did you do that improved your units? As an example, if you have the standard QS Linestage, then the top two things you can do are:- replace the Alps Blue pot with the same exact value TKD pot from Japan. Big jump in resolution and realism. - replace the film coupling caps behind the ...
Tube Amp, Preamp upgrades -- what did you do that improved your units? Please share the QS models so I can be very specific. Need to see the space you have and what’s in there now. QS gear is a great brand to upgrade. They are built very well, point to point, simple circuits, and built with modest parts quality. I th...

Zavfino @ozzy, did you solder/crimp spades to the conductors to insert into the AC plugs? If so, which spades did you use? Thanks.
What were the radio stations of your youth that helped you on your music/audio journey? WBCN Boson. Peter Wolf had the night shift. Great station. If I recall correctly, they were the first to play U2 here in the states.
That Other Audiophile Website Oh my goodness @tubebuffer! LOL! Once I catch my breath, then @carpathian says….“Once again, tubebuffer’s superior insight has hid the mail on the bed” Great stuff!

Aren’t the two main transducers, speakers and cartridge, the most important? On fire and unfortunately a bit off the mark. I like Doug very much as a reviewer and when I met him in person. However, my experience differs greatly from his with burn in and tweaks in general. I have done exhaustive listening tests on cable bur...
A Record Collection/Moral Conundrum - What Would You Do? You have no legal obligation at this point. However, I can tell by your post that you care about doing the right thing here. Your integrity is important to you. The past actions of your friend have nothing to do with how you conduct yourself now. ...
New speaker cables recommendations sought Both. I think more so by the way you cook it, but if specs on capacitance and inductance get somewhat extreme, then that will certainly correlate more to the observed sound. However, for most cabling it is the way you “cook it” as you say. |
