Volume Problem Trouble Shooting Ideas?
jhnnrrs: your correct the 45 tube'd SET's are only for the very hi sensitivity speakers like horns, but with the right speaker they are some of the best sounding amps I've heard. 2A3's as well.  I ran mine when i had them on 105db speakers and...
Have you seen the new McIntosh poster for $195?
wow gouging already typical.
Volume Problem Trouble Shooting Ideas?
The 45 tubes are IMO the best sounding SET tube but also one of the lowest power avail. They would be quite good with your Klipsch's. I'd recommend you visit Crites speakers for some updates on the forte's, tweeter and crossovers would be my recom...
Volume Problem Trouble Shooting Ideas?
I'm not 100% sure on the amp but if its a 45 tube based amp you could be having issues with too little power. 1.5wpc-2wpc is not enough for your speakers and you could be over driving the tubes/transformers/etc. Personally I would not run a SET 45...
Am I reaching the max power / amplitude of my Rotel RB-951 power amp?
your speakers are 5ohm, 88db not overly sensitive but not bad either your amp has 150wpc so i would not expect it to run out of power. I suspect something else is the issue. Like Cleeds mentioned it may be not enough gain in the preamp/source. The...
Schiit Eitr/Intona Isolator and Aurender N200
That depends on what the receiving unit has for isolation etc. my guess is the Aurender has sufficient isolation to not require an add on, I don't know anything about the CD player, and not sure why you need a USB input for it unless your using th...
Why don't they record in ‘surround stereo’?
Interesting taken from Wiki"  Stereophonic sound, or more commonly stereo, is a method of sound reproduction that recreates a multi-directional, 3-dimensional audible perspective. This is usually achieved by using two independent audio channels t...
???Modern Speakers???Life Expectancy???
I have speakers ( and amps etc) that were made in the 1960-70's that after some minor updates i.e. caps they sound great. so a speaker that's only 20 years old is still young IMO.    Note sure what happened to your amp but more electronic gear c...
Streamer question
Upgrade your DAC first then consider a streamer if you need it. I really have not found a huge difference with streamers sound quality, unlike the DAC it feeds.  I've gone through 4 streamers in the last couple years and sold them all, last one w...
help me identify this amplifier
looks home made to me,  no CSA testing or certification for example. Anything sold would require testing, certification labeling. This leads me to think its not a commercial unit but a custom made unit.
Solid-state alternative to Freya +
Why not use the Freya+ in SS mode? or buy the LISST (linear, integrated solid-state tube) tube replacement's from Schiit. $50 each.  Schiit Audio: Audio Products Designed and Built in Texas and California
Focal Sopra n1 - mids are a bit recessed compared to Lumina IIs
I have had a few listing sessions with the Sopra's and kanta 2-3's over the last few weeks, in a well treated room. I agree the Sopra's midrange is recessed and the top end is tipped up. the Kanta's are not nearly as bad and are a bit wormer prese...
XLR recomendation
Just a heads up, I also have a Dave and the XLR sockets are quite small so I recommend you try before buying to make sure they fit. I'm using some AudioQuest XLR's (I believe all of theirs are the same size) that are not small enough for the sock...
Have you asked yourself this question?
I'm in a similar situation. I have what I think is a good digital source now (Chord Dave DAC, Chord Streamer) that is better in so many ways than my vinyl set up. I have not played a record in months. I don't think I've played more then a hand fu...
Prima Luna Vs Accupahse
Tubes or SS that's what your really looking at, also 48w-90w but both are fine with either.   I'd think the Accuphase will be better made and hold its resale value longer. No tubes to replace when they go, as they will.  More features in the E280...
