Picking a power amp
@jeffbij   +1 Speakers first. Audion extensively. Find speakers that you emotionally connect with. Spend a bit more on these than on other components. Then, once you have the speakers you want to optimize the electronics to give them the kind o...

An iPad will change your life in a good way. We have at least six. They are in constant us all day and night... my partner stays up all night. All news, review and edit photos, mail, control my streamers, garage doors, etc. Keep track of health da...
Audio Research LS28SE vs McIntosh C53
I have heard Audio Research has reduced their backlog to less than a month.    Although changing tubes is not a hazardous process.
Anyone else constantly curious about amps?
Nothing wrong with the way you feel. Perhaps your analytical side says a streamer will net you the better sound but your subconscious is telling you an amp will do it. Without getting into the psychology of it. Perhaps your subconscious it right. ...
Audio Research LS28SE vs McIntosh C53
OP, Tube problems happen, but are rare. I now run over fifty tubes and have not had any problems for years. I had one whistle a few years ago. I just brought out my backup set and replaced one by one until the whistle disappeared.  Tubes are out...

The streamer app is called Lightning DS. You want to load it to your iPad. iPad is the preferred control device and I am sure will be much easier. If not there is a technical way to control from Macs and PCs. Here is an AI Summary:     The Au...
ARC Select Worth Price?
I recently retubed my ARC Ref 6SE with my backup set and ordered a new backup set from Upscale. My preference is to order from ARC as they do a lot of testing. But I was trying to save a few dollars. I felt obligated to buy the ARC select from Ups...
Bad idea?
OP, That is the correct thing to do. Try them. If you do not feel they are worth the sound quality they provide, then you shouldn't buy them. Ultimately that is the test.

@mswale  +1  Wow. I missed that somehow. Thanks for bring it up.  It is bad enough having a laptop involved for sound quality... but bluetooth... an absolute no-no for any kind of sound quality!
Listening Room or Components or my ears?
Photos would be helpful... there is a place to put photos under your ID by creating a virtual system.  Focal can are a bit trebly. The Denon could be a contributor... the integrated amp should not. Cable and interconnects can help. I recommend Ca...
Audio Research LS28SE vs McIntosh C53
I find AI does a pretty good job of contrasting sound: The McIntosh C53 and Audio Research LS28SE offer distinct sonic signatures. The McIntosh is known for its slightly more mid-rangey sound with a noticeable lack of treble detail, while the A...
Audio Research LS28SE vs McIntosh C53
The Audio Research is more evenly balanced with more detail. The Mac is a bit weightier sound. Definitely a preference thing. I would definitely listen to the Mac. My personal preference is definitely Audio Research. But there are lots of folks th...
Is it possible to find a good DAC for under $50, 000?
@celtic66 "...I own four different DACs at distinct price points and yes each improves performance measurably with the price point increase.  $300/2K/6K/12K."... +1 I have also owned DACS from $200 - $2K - $20K. I agree. particularly when you do...
Koetsu back...kind of.
Well, hopefully as they say, they are bringing together the original craftsmen with the same materials and jigs and whatever to produce the same great sound.
Considering switching to XLR cables,
That sounds a little presumptuous. Perhaps you mean when you have compared single ended to XLR on your equipment, you have not heard a difference. If so, what was the equipment in you were using and which interconnects did you try? Were the compon...
