@realworldaudio   Wow… that is some in depth knowledge on a pretty esoteric subject. Also, really interesting. Thank you for your post. It is typical for any label to have variable sound quality. Although some are better than others. I do remem...
Offline Music Storage & Playback Recommendations
Very nice looking system. I highly recommend Aurender. I have tried lots of streaming solutions… Mac and PC based… none were good until I purchased a Aurlic Aries G2… then I found Aurender.   I own two an N100 and W20SE. I stream 95% of the time...
Nordost cable damage - opinions?
OP,   I agree the seller should have pointed this out.   On the other hand I bet there is absolutely no discernible audible effect. I imagine if you count the number of conductors and assume a 5% reduction of fidelity in the one conductor it wo...
I finally got a record cleaning machine. First thoughts.
OP,   Congratulations. That looks like a great machine. Thank you for sharing your thoughts on it.   My old VPI died last year and I fairly quickly evaluated the solution space and got a Nellie… also German and well thought out. Not quite at t...
Your sub experience: Easy or hard?
I am on the side of they are a pain in the butt… well, were. I hear they are much easier to deal with now. I bought four B&W 800 series (2 for audio) 25 years ago. Adjusted by ear and analytically using test tones and SPL. My system always so...
Footers- Break In? Such A Change.
Thank you @ozzy. Good info.   I must admit I always take on a skeptical look at new tweaks… hoping over and over that it would not matter. But, alas, it always does. I guess while I find it monotonous that everything matters… on the other hand, ...

@best-groove    Thank you… cool idea. I’ll have a look.
Inside the Iso Acoustics mechanism
@milpai  Thanks for your comments. Good point about speakers. I have isolation platforms for my speakers on the list of the next upgrade.   Thanks for your complement. Yeah, it sounds incredible… really hard to drag myself away from… I am fortu...
Changes to older system
I would start with the preamp. I have been a long time appreciator of NAD and have owned a couple. I think a tubed preamp could have a big impact / improvement on your system. In an attempt to recommend something cost effective… probably Rouge. A...

@audioguy85    White dog? Shaded dog? The specific album I was speaking of is an outline in blue… no shading.   Yes, no series are all great… some duds are not unusual.
Inside the Iso Acoustics mechanism
@milpai   Thanks for your reply. My amp is underlain by an amp stand, on which are six or so vibrapodes, then a granite slab… then Nobsound springs… then my amp. The Nobsprings definitely improved the sound. I know granite can be bad under a TT...

@axeis1   Thank god. I love the quiet and comfort of my home… the venue of live concerts can frequently ruin the sonics, or the sound engineer, or the amplification… people… unless there are assigned seats I do not enjoy the experience. Fortuna...

When Deutsche Gramophone went digital they were terrible! I pulled one out a couple months ago… horribly shrill! @lewm you are absolutely correct… before they went digital they were really good… often the standard.    I remember buying albums in ...

There was real completion for higher fidelity in the 50’s. Before stereo I have a lot of Hi-Fidelity albums boasting of greater fidelity leading up to stereo. For me, unfortunately no mater how high fidelity is… if it is not stereo it doesn’t keep...
Is an isolation transformer better than a power conditioner?
@boostedis    Thanks for your comments.   I have heard this claim of “just different”.. or even about a realization after some time it wasn’t good. But it has always sounded like it was coming from a skeptic… a theoretical assertion… not from ...
