Competitive class D amp suggestions
@mglik    Thank you for your very kind words.
Can cables have a shelf life?
It always sounded crazy that moving or not using cables will need to be run in again. But I have heard it repeatedly. I hate it, everything matters.   I had some speaker cables (Transparent) tucked away for twenty years. I pulled them out and pu...
Your short speaker cable experiences
My dealer has told me one of the big changers you can make to benefit your system is to put your mono blocks right next to your speakers and run a really short speaker cable… it tremendously improves the speed and accuracy of the speakers. I know ...
Adapter for Headphones
What brand and model TV? Many modern TVs have Bluetooth so you could use a set of Bluetooth headphones. Thereby also eliminating the wires.   My partner stays up all night and watches TV with headphones while I sleep. With each generation of TV ...
Best streamer for a returning audio guy
OP,   Welcome back. I think the Bluesound streamer is a great recommendation.   I’m an old guy also. Just a note on today’s audio world. Streaming can sound just as good as vinyl… for around the same price if you carefully choose the component...
WiFi streaming — streamer vs. through iPad
A streamer with only an Ethernet port does not require hard wiring. Just get a wall wart WiFi extender and plug in next to the streamer.. then plug into that. $59 solution. Mine and many $100K systems work great off of that.   I have streamed, ...
What do you use to keep high gloss speakers clean?

Need some suggestions for a desktop amp.
I am a little confused.. desktop? You just want a small form factor? What about under the desk? My office system is off to the side and has a great integrated tube amp powering it. Also, the DAC is a critical component. You do not want to have it...
Di I really need to clean my LP's?
@o_holter …seriously? A stylist breaking off because of a dirty record? What… one with glued sand on it. That sounds like a real stretch. My last stylist lasted much longer than 2,000 hours (Van den Hull Frog) with no damage from dust or lack of m...
Schiit Freya + Class A in Stereophile
Stereophile gives ratings based on sound quality. There is an inverse relationship between sound quality and features. Feature rich audio stuff is mid-fi or low-fi. Sound quality is the important criteria in high end audio.

HEAVY Platters. Metal or Plastic? Your personal Experiences
@mijostyn 😁 I think I would take that bet…. And it would be a blast to determine the winner. I did a lot of research before buying my Linn… one of the only contenders was a Soto… my research and my turntable expert both concurred that in this ti...
Cable recommandations
In general, think of buying used… typically 1/2 original price. Used cables is a great place. The $3,000 new price range is a very good range to be in. I usually read reviews via Stereophile and the Absolute Sound to find the characteristics I am ...
Sharing my experience with cables
OP, The power cord on my amp was also the biggest and profound difference after speaker cables. I struggled with getting the right power cord for my amp. I tried several different Cardas and Tranparent (but not the one made specifically for amps)...
